Sequence of number has a very important position in the entrance examinationof university. This article investigated and analyzed the high school seniors students’ situation of solving problems from literature review, questionnaires, interviews, case tracking and other methods. Trying to apply Polya mathematical model to the solution of the number of columns in high school and to the teaching practice issues, striving to improve the high school series problem-solving situation, and achieving good results in the entrance.This paper is divided into four parts:(A) High school students were investigated series problem-solving ability of students to achieve the results of the statistical problem-solving situation. We found the problem-solving process does not comply the Polya model title.(B) Based on the Polya problem-solving model studying, the four steps of Sequence of number for solving mathematical model: ① accurate understanding of the problem, informed recessive condition ②) series features observed, seeking useful ideas ③ good use of mathematical thinking problem-solving method ④ review(C) Used Polya problem-solving model to solve Practice series of questions, focused on and summarized Key Questions problem-solving method techniques. Allow students to understand the process of solving problems and mathematical thinking.(D) Teaching suggestions are given of Polya problem-solving model based on the Sequence of number: ① get attention and make good use of the concept and nature ② observe the number of columns feature, inspire and guide students to find a solution ③ make a good use of mathematical thinking, optimization problem-solving thinking process ④ review. And give the Sequence of number in the teaching design problem-solving exercises.This study is not just popularizedthe model of Polya, but also have a significant influence on teachers’ teaching and research and high school students’learning the knowledge of Sequence of number.
