Systems thinking is a necessary thinking skill in the 21 st century,a hot topic in international science education research and a requirement of China’s education development strategy.Systems thinking is an important part of the discipline’s core literacy, which is important for students’ learning development and complex problem solving.Since chemistry is closely related to systems thinking and the types and properties of chemical substances in chemistry are diverse and complex in transformation,it is of theoretical and practical significance to develop teaching models that promote the development of systems thinking in chemistry for high school students.Firstly, the CRMP model for the development of systems thinking in chemistry was developed based on the general systems theory and Gestalt effect, and the related concepts were defined. The CRMP teaching model of "ionic reactions and equilibria in aqueous solutions" was built based on the topic of "aqueous solutions" as an example.Meanwhile, the teaching strategies and general operation procedures of the CRMP model were formulated. This teaching practice object selected the students in grade two of senior high school. The experimental class adopted the CRMP teaching model, and the control class adopted the conventional teaching model.Based on the BST framework, which comes from foreign evaluation of system thinking, adapted into a framework suitable for the topic of aqueous solution in senior high school chemistry.Developed test questions for unit assessment consistent with the assessment of systematic thinking in chemistry to test and analyze the effectiveness of student learning and the level of systematic thinking development. Finally, this thesis analyzes the development of students’ systems thinking in chemistry from the quantitative and qualitative perspectives. Also discussed it in combination with teachers’ and students’ understanding of systems thinking teaching. It was found that(1)Teaching method based on the CRMP model was effective in promoting the development of students’ chemical systems thinking skills;(2)Teaching systems thinking was effective in improving students’ level of analysis and reasoning about complex systems;and(3)Students in different knowledge levels have different performance of systematic thinking when thinking about complex problems.Top students are more actively to use systems viewpoint to analyze and solve problems. The study empirically tested the practical value of the CRMP model on students’ development of systems thinking in chemistry and constructed an assessment framework to analyze students’ development of systems thinking skills. However, this study needs further improvement and refinement due to the limitations of the study population, the study time, and the researcher’s ability.
