The Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education released in2022 focus on the core issue of developing students’ core literacy,further strengthening the integrative and practical aspects of the curriculum and placing greater emphasis on the role of the integrative and practical areas in developing core literacy.The main questions of this study are: what is the current status of the implementation of the integrated and practical area of middle school mathematics,the factors that hinder the implementation of the integrated and practical area of middle school mathematics and the relevant suggestions that can improve the teaching effectiveness of the integrated and practical area of middle school mathematics,and an investigation study on the current status of the implementation of the integrated and practical area of middle school mathematics in school X in Jiangsu.This study investigates the implementation of the integrated and practical domain of middle school mathematics in school X in Jiangsu,China,and adopts a case study approach to explore four aspects of teachers’ attitudes toward the integrated and practical domain of middle school mathematics,the way it is conducted,self-evaluation,and teaching support;and to understand students’ emotions,expectations,and needs for the integrated and practical domain of middle school mathematics to perspective the current status of teaching and learning in the integrated and practical domain.The findings show that: the current performance of the implementation of the integrative and practical domain of junior high school mathematics still needs improvement;the teaching and learning of the integrative and practical domain of junior high school mathematics is effective;the factors affecting the effectiveness of the implementation of the integrative and practical domain of junior high school mathematics are all-round.Based on the principles of cognitive,operational and affective,the researcher issued a common initiative to the society,schools,teachers and students,and made the following recommendations: First,to consolidate the basic knowledge,basic skills,basic ideas and basic activity experience of mathematics integration and practice,through the design of units in the context of "large units",paying attention to the design of problems,methods and activity experience;second,to cultivate the emotions,attitudes and values of mathematics integration and practice,through the development of integration under the "interdisciplinary" orientation and the improvement of evaluation under the "developmental" concept,paying attention to the internal motivation of interest,attitude,and activity experience.The second is to cultivate the emotions,attitudes and values of mathematics integration and practice,through the development of integration under the "interdisciplinary" orientation and the improvement of evaluation under the "developmental" concept,paying attention to the cultivation of internal motivation of interest,self-confidence and open-mindedness,and the sense of cooperation;Third,to create the conditions and environment for mathematical integration and practice,through innovative practices under the "project-based" perspective,to liberalize the activity space,create a thinking field and expand the practice environment.
