A Practical Study On Group Work To Improve Neighborhood Identity Of Residents In "Unit Type" Old Community

The "unit type" community is an "acquaintance society" linked by business relationship.Residents in the community have a high degree of neighborhood identity,and the neighborhood relationship is united and close.The harmonious neighborhood atmosphere plays a positive role in gathering the collective strength of the community,playing the collective role of the community and building the collective consensus of the community.However,with the development of society and the transformation of "unit system",the identity system of residents in the community is gradually fragmented and the identity of neighbors is reduced,which leads to low participation of residents in public activities in the community and weak cohesion of the community,which is not conducive to the achievement of the overall goal of grassroots governance.X community is a typical "unit type" community.Through interviews,it was found that the neighbors highly recognized the community at the beginning of its establishment.First,the community environment is superior,the infrastructure is perfect,the unit service is thoughtful,the residents have a strong sense of belonging;Second,the residents of the community are composed of the staff of the munitions factory and their families,with strong homogeneity and high degree of neighborhood familiarity;Third,the neighborhood interaction frequency is high,the level is deep,material and spiritual mutual help is frequent,the relationship is harmonious.On this basis,the residents of the community have a strong collective consciousness,showing a high degree of consciousness and active participation.No matter the collective activities in the community or the public affairs in the community,everyone has shown a high enthusiasm and built the community as a "home" concept.With the reform of unit system,X community was gradually labeled as "old,old and loose" and became a semi-abandoned community.Based on field observation,questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview,it is found that the problem of neighborhood identity weakening exists in X community,which is mainly manifested as follows: first,the residents of the community are highly mobile and increasingly heterogeneous,and most of them have little knowledge of the history and culture of the community.Second,the residents of the community are less familiar with and trust their neighbors,and the interaction frequency with their neighbors is not high and the communication level is one-sided.Third,old public space and infrastructure,poor property management,indifferent neighborhood,few recreational activities,etc.,residents are not satisfied with the community,lack of a sense of belonging.However,most residents believe that the neighborhood relationship is relatively important and have a high willingness and demand for neighborhood communication,but they lack relevant conditions to maintain the neighborhood relationship,which is in urgent need of improvement.Based on the research results,with the support of K community,which belongs to X community,the author uses the professional method of group work,guided by identity theory and symbolic interaction theory,to carry out a neighborhood identity promotion group activity with the theme of "Good neighbors and good partners".The group members include third-line workers,their families,K community grid members,foreign merchants and tenants,etc.The activities involve the cultivation of neighborhood cognition,the promotion of community history and culture,the mining of collective memory and place memory,and the discussion on the construction of neighborhood relations.The overall process and the effect of the activity are evaluated,and the following conclusions are drawn: First,group work can meet the goals and needs of the group members,cultivate their neighborhood cognition,reshape the community cultural atmosphere,etc.,so that the group members’ neighborhood concept can be changed and their enthusiasm for communication can be improved.Secondly,group activities have a remarkable effect.The sense of neighborhood identity is enhanced through five dimensions: the group members’ familiarity with the neighborhood,the willingness to interact with the neighborhood,the sense of neighborhood trust,and the community satisfaction.Finally,the group work method is effective and has professional advantages in the process of neighborhood identity reconstruction in the old "unit type" community.It is of theoretical advantage to apply the identity theory and symbol interaction theory to the practical research of neighborhood identity and neighborhood relationship improvement of the residents in the old "unit type" community.However,this activity is only an attempt by the author,and there are still some shortcomings in the practice process.More efforts are needed to study the neighborhood identity of "unit type" old residential district.
