| Socio-scientific issues(SSI)refers to a series of controversial social issues brought about by the development of science and technology.By providing authentic problem situations,SSI teaching can stimulate students’ thinking about ethics,responsibility,and other aspects,thereby helping to cultivate students’ character and values.From the perspective of cultivating morality and cultivating people,curriculum thought and politics education emphasizes the unity of discipline teaching and educating people,allowing students to feel the scientific spirit in their studies,maintain independent thinking,and experience their own social responsibilities and values.Through analyzing relevant literature,it is found that SSI teaching and curriculum thought and politics have similarities,and rich teaching materials are contained in high school biology.Therefore,this study focuses on biology SSI,excavates course curriculum thought and politics materials,attempts to construct course curriculum thought and politics materials based on SSI,and develops effective teaching methods to provide value guidance to students.Firstly,through literature research,it clarified the meaning of SSI,SSI teaching,curriculum thought and politics,and clarified the theoretical basis of this study.Subsequently,a questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted to understand the cognition and implementation attitudes of high school frontline biology teachers towards SSI and curriculum thought and politics education.It was found that although most teachers are unfamiliar with SSI,they also agree that the application of SSI based curriculum thought and politics materials in teaching can improve students’ ideological and political literacy level.In addition,in the questionnaire survey of first-year students,it was found that students hope to participate in discussions on biology SSI,and they hope to further their thinking ability and ideological consciousness after learning.In response to the above survey results,this study took Molecules and Cells,a compulsory course in high school biology published by the People’s Education Press,as an example to sort out a total of 9 biology SSI in the textbook,including implicit and explicit ones.Combined with the disciplinary characteristics of ideological and political education in high school biology courses,the study took three aspects of spiritual level,thinking penetration,and social responsibility as the perspective of curriculum thought and politics education.Through teaching design,the organic integration of SSI and curriculum thought and politics materials was achieved,Simultaneously applied to practical teaching.To test the teaching effectiveness,questionnaires were distributed to the control class and the experimental class before and after practice to measure the level of ideological and political literacy.From the results of the questionnaire,there was no significant change in the pretest and post test scores of the control class(p>0.05),while the post test scores of the experimental class were higher than those of the control class in all three dimensions,and there was a significant difference in the pretest and post test scores(p<0.05).In random interviews with students in the experimental class,it was also found that the majority of students were able to adapt well to this learning style,and the SSI explored together in class left a deep impression on them.Finally,based on the results of theoretical and practical research,this article concludes that the curriculum thought and politics materials for senior high school biology courses based on SSI can be effectively applied in teaching,and can basically achieve the expected teaching results.In addition,some issues arising from this study were also reflected and summarized,and corresponding suggestions were given to provide ideas for future research and better realization of the teaching goal of integrating knowledge transfer and value guidance. |
