With the continuous advancement of the new curriculum reform,more and more experts and scholars start to think about how to implement the new curriculum reform concept,how to cultivate core literacy and other issues.Unit teaching has become an important breakthrough in solving such problems,and how to better implement unit teaching design has also become a realistic confusion that frontline teachers need to explore.Understanding by Design(hereinafter referred to as UbD)is a teaching design approach led by reverse thinking,which pursues the teaching design idea of “understanding first” and “beginning with the end in mind”.It advocates large concepts and units providing a new theoretical basis for unit teaching design.Taking the unit on “trigonometric function” as an example,the study explores how to use the UbD model to design units in pursuit of understanding to promote students’ meaningful understanding of knowledge and to put key competence into practice.The main research contents are as follows:Firstly,the literature analysis is used to analyze the current research status related to the UbD model and unit teaching to identify the research questions,significance,and ideas.The thesis defines the concepts of the UbD model and unit teaching,sorting out the characteristics,framework,and theoretical basis of the UbD model to provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent research.Secondly,the thesis analyzes the current situation of teaching and learning in senior secondary mathematics teaching through the questionnaire survey.Based on the results of the questionnaire,teacher interviews are used to further understand the difficulties or obstacles in carrying out unit teaching so as to provide some data support and a realistic basis for this research.It’s found that there are inconsistent teaching and learning assessments,unreasonable goal and assessment settings.Students lack the understanding and transfer of knowledge while teachers have poor understanding and theoretical knowledge of unit teaching,suffering heavy teaching loads in schools and inadequate relevant training systems.Thirdly,expert consultation and comparative research are used to analyze the feasibility and appropriateness of the UbD-based model for the design of senior secondary mathematics units.In comparison with traditional teaching design,it’s found that the UbD-based high school mathematics unit teaching design has the following advantages: respecting students’ subjectivity,facilitating students’ meaningful understanding of knowledge,aadvancing the implementation of core literacy in mathematics classrooms,and promoting teachers’ professional development.Fourthly,a top-down process of combining the reverse teaching design based on the UbD model is constructed.That are unit learning theme planning-unit teaching objective development-unit teaching assessment design-unit teaching activity design-reflection and improvement;The four principles of instructional design that need to be followed are formulated: the principle of understanding first,the principle of systematic planning,the principle of goal-directedness,the principle of taskdrivenness and The principle of consistency of goals,evaluation and activities.Fifthly,the thesis is based on the unit teaching design process of senior secondary mathematics under the UbD model and uses the unit on trigonometric functions as an example to systematically plan the teaching elements of each component and to demonstrate the unit teaching design cases under the UbD model in detail,with a view to providing a reference for front-line teachers.
