The transformation of geography subject and geography classroom teaching mode is the key direction and important issue of the new curriculum reform of high school geography in the new era.It also put forward new requirements for the cultivation of geography core literacy for high school students.As one of the four core literacies of geography,geography practical ability is a key literacy indispensable for cultivating talents in the new era.It has significance for cultivating students’ understanding of human-earth relationship,concerning ecological environment,enhancing social responsibility awareness and practicing the concept of unity of knowledge and action.Therefore,it is an urgent need to improve the current teaching mode of geography practical ability in high school geography to further improve students’ comprehensive quality and give full play to the important role of geography in the establishment of moral education.Based on the constructivist theory,participatory teaching theory,multiple intelligences theory and "learning by doing" theory,the theoretical framework of BOPPPS teaching model based on geography practical ability cultivation was constructed by using the methods of text analysis,questionnaire survey,interview and case study,and the case implementation and effect test were conducted.The following conclusions were drawn from the study:(1)The concept of geography practical ability,structural dimensions and its dimensional performance were clarified.The relevant theories and their inner relations of the design of the BOPPPS teaching model of high school geography based on geography practical ability cultivation were analyzed.(2)From the six teaching links of BOPPPS,the theoretical framework of the BOPPPS teaching model of high school geography based on the cultivation of geography practical ability is systematically constructed and its implementation strategies were analyzed.(3)The evaluation method of geography practical ability based on the scale assessment method was constructed to realize the objective evaluation of geography practical ability.The scale was compiled according to three scenarios: experiment,investigation and survey.The PTA basic element analysis method was applied to refine the geography practical ability,which had concreted the abstract behavior of students in geography practice activities.(4)Taking "urbanization" as an example,we developed and implemented the BOPPPS teaching case to cultivate geography practical ability.The results showed that the classroom observation ability,operation ability and will quality of the students in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class.The P values of the experiment ability and operation ability of the two classes were 0.016 and 0.015,respectively,which were significant different.The overall level of students’ geography practical ability was improved.
