| The General Senior Secondary Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition Revised2020)(hereafter referred to as "the Standards")state that emphasis is placed on structuring the curriculum content with the broad concepts of the subject as the core, and contextualising the content with the theme as the lead to promote the implementation of the core literacy of the subject. This means that through learning mathematics, students are able to develop the necessary character and key competencies for adapting to society and pursuing development. In accordance with the requirements of the Curriculum, the implementation of core literacy education in mathematics and the exploration of the overall teaching design of the unit is one of the hot issues in mathematics education research at present, taking "Spatial vectors and three-dimensional geometry" as an example.Teachers,as leaders in teaching and learning activities, need to understand, research and develop unit designs and implement them in their teaching.Based on the literature, the theoretical basis of the study is established and a questionnaire is used to understand the current situation of teachers’ knowledge and practice of unit teaching in high schools. The results of the study show that the core literacy-based unit on Spatial Vector and Stereometry can improve students’ performance in mathematics and contribute to the development of students’ core literacy in mathematics, helping them to develop a clear basic structure of the subject. To complete and implement a core literacy-based unit design, the following points are required: to construct a chapter structure map as a whole and to clarify the general idea of the study;to emphasise the importance of teaching the unit and to implement the development of core literacy;to enhance the professional development of teachers and to optimise the mathematics teaching force. |
