Research On The Offensive And Defensive Ability Of The Men’s Handball Teams In The Tokyo Olympics

Handball is one of the 28 major sports in the Olympic Games.After winning the Asian Games in1982 and entering the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 by virtue of being the host of the Games,Chinese men’s handball has not achieved anything.There is an urgent need for Chinese men’s handball to learn from the world’s best teams and to explore the technical and tactical capabilities,offensive and defensive characteristics of the world’s top handball teams as well as the development trend of handball in order to promote the development of Chinese handball.The following conclusions were drawn from the study of the offensive and defensive abilities of the 12 men’s handball teams in the Tokyo Olympic Games through literature,video observation,expert survey,mathematical and statistical methods and RSR comprehensive evaluation.1.The distribution of the teams in the Tokyo Olympic Games,the format of the tournament and the comparison of point spreads show that the European group is dominant and still dominates the world men’s handball landscape.2.In terms of the physical shape of the teams,the European teams have better physical shape than the teams from other continents,the South American teams and the African teams are close to each other,while the Asian teams are quite different from the other continents in terms of physical shape.3.From the age of the players of each participating team,there is a relative age effect in the age of the athletes in this year’s Olympic Games;from the number of international matches played by the players of each participating team and the clubs they play for,more than 75% of all the participating players in this year’s Olympic Games play in European professional leagues,which have mature development and high level of competition.The European professional leagues are mature,with a high level of competition,and players playing in European professional leagues have participated in more international matches and are more experienced in competition.4.From the point of view of the offensive ability of each participating team,the offensive data of each participating team was rated by the RSR comprehensive evaluation method,and the final three teams with the highest offensive ability ratings: France,Spain and Denmark,comparing the various offensive data,the teams with strong offensive ability ranked the top in a number of hits,and the teams with strong offensive ability have rich tactics,many scoring methods and high offensive efficiency.5.From the perspective of the defensive ability of each team,the defensive data of each team was rated by the RSR comprehensive evaluation method,and each team mostly used the 6-0 defence in their defensive formation,and successfully reduced the scoring opportunities of the attacking team by actively stealing and blocking the ball and cooperating with the goalkeeper.The goalkeepers were mentally strong and worked well with their opponents.6.From the RSR ratings of the teams’ offensive and defensive capabilities,it is clear that the world’s best teams are all offensive and defensive teams,and that excellent offense cannot compensate for defensive shortcomings.7.A comparison of the physical form and offensive and defensive stats of the champions France and their opponents shows that France is not outstanding in terms of height but is very strong against the run;in terms of offensive and defensive stats: the average hitting rate between France and their opponents shows a significant difference(p < 0.05)and the average scoring is nearly 5 points higher than their opponents.France’s goalkeeper’s saves and success rate were significantly different from those of their opponents(p<0.05).The French team’s offensive focus was mostly on the bottom line and their defence was more mature.And in response to the above findings the following suggestions are made for the future development of handball in China:1.create a perfect handball development mechanism to mobilise more people to actively participate in mass handball.2.Develop a professional handball league to expand the social influence of handball.3.Improve the coaching ability of coaches and build a high-level training team.4.Follow international trends in material selection and improve physical confrontation ability.5.Focus on offensive efficiency and improve the status of bottom line tactics.6.Consolidate the study of defensive theory and develop collaborative ability.
