A Research On Zhu Xi’s Thought Of Life Education

Faced with many problems in life development and the impact of the current COVID-19 epidemic on life,life education has once again become the focus of public attention.To promote the development of local life education in China,we must seek the foundation from Chinese traditional culture.Chinese traditional philosophy has always focused on human life.As a representative figure of Neo-Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasties and a famous educator,Zhu Xi’s thoughts cover a wide range,including rich life education thoughts.Based on the multi-disciplinary perspective,this paper tries to study and discuss Zhu Xi’s life education thought from the historical background,ideological origin,purpose,content,approach,influence and enlightenment of Zhu Xi’s life education thought,and constructs a complete and systematic theoretical system of Zhu Xi’s life education thought,so as to seek the wisdom of life,enrich the educational resources of life education and expand the ideas of life education.The emergence of Zhu Xi’s life education thought has a profound historical background.The turbulent political situation and relaxed and free cultural atmosphere in the Song Dynasty laid the foundation for Zhu Xi’s thought of life education.At the same time,Zhu Xi’s personal growth process of studying and the life experience of the death of his relatives and friends also made him have a deeper experience and feelings about life and death,which had a great influence on the formation of his life education thought.In the process of continuous exploration and thinking about "life",various schools of thought in ancient China formed many valuable thoughts about life.Zhu Xi’s life education thought was formed on the basis of absorbing the life thought of Confucian rationalism,Buddhist mysticism and Taoist naturalism.Zhu Xi’s purpose of life education can be divided into three levels.First of all,to encourage individuals to develop their personality and explore knowledge,so that their lives can be perfected at both moral and intellectual levels,that is,the educational purpose of "achieving oneself";Secondly,cultivate the individual’s sense of responsibility for other things,that is,the educational purpose of "achieving others";Finally,the purpose of Zhu Xi’s life education is to unify "achieving oneself" and "achieving others" with the purpose of "position education" to promote the harmonious coexistence of individual life and group life.These three together constitute Zhu Xi’s comprehensive view of the purpose of life education.Zhu Xi’s life education is rich in content,which can be divided into four parts: life view education,life knowledge education,life wisdom education and life realm education.From understanding the essence,process and value of life to mastering a series of knowledge of life health care,then absorbing the life wisdom of know life and settling down,and finally reaching the life realm of being content to die with a clear conscience,the unity of benevolence and sincerity and the joy of saints,it can be said that Zhu Xi’s life education content is progressive.Education is not outside life,but inside life.Zhu Xi’s life education pays more attention to people’s life experience,and takes it as the best path of his life education,which can be divided into three aspects:sincere sacrifice,investigation to objects and setting up teaching and lecturing.Zhu Xi hopes that by offering sacrifices to this sincere life experience,people can have a deeper understanding of the meaning of life,gain a kind of cognition and awe of life belonging,and regulate their own behavior and life.Seeking the "benevolence" of things through "investigating things" enables people to realize the "meaning of life" of heaven and earth and the subject morality of cherishing the benevolence of heaven and earth.Carry out life education extensively by setting up teaching to promote learning,so as to establish the life of others.A series of life education ideas put forward by Zhu Xi are not only used to guide his own behavior and practice,so as to realize the perfection of his own life,but also deeply influence his disciples.They also inspire many later scholars to study life and life education,and have very important reference value for the development of life education in today’s society,that is,life education should focus on meeting students’ life needs,promoting students’ life development and realizing students’ life value.
