Objective: Psychological resilience refers to the psychological trait that individuals can mobilize various resources and deal with different problems flexibly when they are subjected to negative stimuli or stress.The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of orienteering movement on the mental toughness of junior middle school students,so as to expand the research in the field of mental toughness and provide scientific basis for teachers and coaches to improve students’ mental health.Method: In this study,literature,questionnaire,experiment and mathematical statistics were used,and the Adolescent Mental Toughness Scale compiled by Hu Yueqin and Gan Yiqun was adopted as the experimental measuring tool.Fifty students from two classes of Grade two were randomly sampled from Zhongshan Memorial Middle School People’s Middle School,and they were used as the experimental class and the control class to teach orienteering and regular physical education respectively.A 12-week teaching experiment.Results:(1)The average mental toughness of junior middle school students was93.26,the average score of male students was 96.80,and the average score of female students was 89.86;There was no significant difference in mental toughness in the origin of students and whether they were the only child(p>0.05).(2)After the12-week teaching experiment,the mental toughness level of both the experimental group and the control group was improved to some extent.After the experiment,the mean value of mental toughness was 99.36 in the experimental group and 93.70 in the control group,and there was a significant difference between the two groups(p<0.05).The mental toughness of the experimental group was significantly different before and after the experiment(p<0.01).There was no significant difference in mental toughness between the control group before and after the experiment(p>0.05).(3)After the experiment,the mental toughness of the experimental group showed significant differences in each dimension.The experimental group showed significant differences in goal focus,emotion control,positive cognition,interpersonal assistance and other dimensions(p<0.01).There were no significant differences in the mental toughness of the control group(p>0.05).Conclusion:(1)The overall level of mental toughness of junior middle school students is better,and the performance of male students is better than that of female students.(2)Orienteering is helpful to improve the mental toughness of junior high school students.(3)Orienteering can be used as the teaching content of junior physical education to improve students’ ability of "goal focus,emotion control,positive cognition and interpersonal assistance".
