| A common problem among contemporary citizens in all countries is the lack of scientific literacy,as understood through literature studies,and the nature of science is one of the important elements of core literacy,the HPS teaching model is an effective way for students to understand the nature of science,and the teaching of physics itself is embedded in the HPS teaching model.Therefore,this study tries to apply the HPS teaching model in high school physics teaching on students’ view of the nature of science,the specific practices are as follows.By questionnaire,understanding the current status of high school physics teachers’ use of the HPS teaching model,suggest appropriate strategies in relation to the survey results and internship experience.Two parallel classes in the first year of a high school in Xingyi City,Guizhou Province were selected for the study,pre-testing the level of scientific essence of students in two classes by developing a questionnaire on the scientific essence of high school students,according to the results of the survey there was no significant difference between the two classes in all three dimensions of the scientific essence concept,choose any class as a control class,the other one is an experimental class.In this study,three teaching fragments of "Free Fall Motion","Galileo’s Study of Free Fall Motion" and "Newton’s First Law" were chosen as examples,designing instructional designs that highlight the nature of science based on the HPS instructional model and traditional instructional designs,the control class utilized traditional teaching methods,experimental class using HPS teaching model,after teaching is completed,post-testing of two classes,analysis of data using IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software,compare and contrast the impact of traditional teaching methods and the HPS teaching model on students’ view of the nature of science.The results of the study showed that: Pre-testing the level of scientific essence view of students in the experimental and control classes before the experiment,the results showed no significant difference in students’ understanding of the nature of science in both classes,prove that the level of both classes is almost the same,perform the next experiments,the two classes utilize different teaching methods,post-test at the end of the lecture,found no significant differences in the levels of pre and post-test scientific essential view among students in control classes using traditional teaching methods;And the students in the experimental class with the HPS teaching model,a significant increase in the overall view of the nature of science,the nature of scientific inquiry and the nature of the scientific enterprise,only the nature of scientific knowledge is not very significant to enhance,the comparison with traditional teaching methods,the HPS teaching model helps develop students’ view of the nature of science.In addition,the author offers suggestions for better developing students’ view of the nature of science based on the HPS teaching model,to summarize the shortcomings of this study and its further improvement and implementation in the future career. |
