| Adolescence is an important stage in the growth and development of an individual, during which sexual functions begin to develop and sexual impulses emerge.Freud believed that the sexual impulse is a human instinct. In essence, the instinctive sexual urge is the body’s consciousness, and this consciousness is especially evident during the adolescent stage. The sexual development of students with intellectual disabilities is just as likely as that of the average student to experience sexual urges during the adolescent stage. However, because of their low cognitive level, communication barriers, poor judgment and self-control,and lack of awareness of sexual safety, students with intellectual disabilities are easy targets for sexual assault. Therefore,it is especially important to provide sexual safety education to students with intellectual disabilities. In recent years, the frequent occurrence of assaults on students with intellectual disabilities has received the attention of some scholars and experts, but most of them stay in theoretical discussions, and the number of real studies based on field surveys or cases is limited. This study is a field survey and adopts action research methods. The subjects of the survey were 8 students with mental retardation in grade 5 of F school in Huainan city.During the investigation, the researcher received strong support from the head teacher Z and had a lot of cooperation.First of all,the researchers conducted preliminary interviews with cooperative teachers, three senior class teachers, and two parents of students, and conducted pre-tests on sexual safety awareness and prevention ability of the research subjects. After completing the pre-interview and pre-test,according to the physical and mental development of the subjects and the existing cognitive level, the researchers and the cooperative teachers jointly formulated the teaching plan of sexual safety education.Secondly, with the help of cooperative teachers, the researchers carried out four rounds of safety education and teaching actions for students with intellectual disabilities in grade 5,and explored the feasible scheme of safety education in the action cycle of“plan-action-observation-reflection-new plan”.Finally, after the end of the teaching action, the researchers conducted a post-test on the research subjects and conducted post-interviews with the relevant parties. After completing the post-interview and post-test,the researchers collated and analyzed the data, found the impact of sexual safety education and teaching actions on relevant parties, and summarized the research results. The results of the study show that the implementation of the Sexual Safety Education Teaching Initiative has improved the awareness and prevention of sexual safety among fifth grade students with intellectual disabilities and has had a positive impact on all parties involved.Based on the results of the study, the researcher discussed and made relevant recommendations, analyzed the research shortcomings, and looked forward to future action plans. |
