Action Research For The Development Of Young Children’s Social-emotional Competence

UNESCO identified socio-emotional competence as one of the core competencies of21 st century skills,and people are beginning to realize the importance of socio-emotional competence throughout their lives.The cultivation of children’s social and emotional ability at this stage can not only enhance children’s self-awareness and self-regulation ability,but also increase children’s interpersonal skills,so that children’s physical and mental development can be better.Based on this,this study took action research as the main paradigm,combined with questionnaire method,observation method and interview method,and adopted the combination of "quality and quantity" to conduct action research on 42 children in the experimental class for nearly three months,and explored how to promote the development of social and emotional ability of kindergarten children in practical action.Firstly,the social and emotional ability of children in the experimental class was pretested,and it was found that the social and emotional ability of children in this class was not high,and the scores of self-cognition,interpersonal communication and self-regulation were2.40,2.48 and 2.40,respectively,which were lower than the theoretical median,indicating that the social and emotional ability of children in this class needed to be cultivated.Secondly,based on the actual situation of the children in the class,formulate three rounds of action plans;According to the model of "plan-implement-reflect-adjust",special educational activities are carried out for the three dimensions of children’s social and emotional ability:self-awareness,interpersonal communication and self-regulation.Finally,after three rounds of action research interventions,the social and emotional abilities of children in the experimental class were post-tested.Through the paired-sample T test of the before and after test data,it was found that there were significant differences in the ability of self-cognition,interpersonal communication and self-regulation in the sub-dimensions(p<0.001),and the ability level of the post-test was significantly higher than that of the pre-test,indicating that the socialemotional ability of the children in this class was significantly improved.Through this study,in order to better promote the development of children’s socialemotional ability,the researchers put forward the following suggestions: first,use diversified methods to cultivate children’s social-emotional ability: use picture books as a carrier to enrich children’s social-emotional ability experience;Provide practical opportunities for young children based on a variety of activities;Set campaign goals appropriately.Second,improve teachers’ own social and emotional literacy: third,home co-education cultivates children’s social and emotional ability.
