Research On Narrative Transformation And Audience Cognitive Identity Of Criminal Investigation Network Dramas

With the comprehensive promotion of the country’s rule of law,the State Administration of Radio,Film and Television(SARFT)has increased the review,supervision and guidance of online dramas,and actively promoted the support of films related to the rule of law.Criminal investigation themes directly hit social reality,show the face of public security agencies,and spread mainstream values,becoming a popular type of network self-made dramas.In 2014,various major video websites announced their development strategies in the field of "network self-made drama",a large number of network self-made dramas appeared in the market,this year was called "the first year of network dramas".In 2014,Tencent Video launched the criminal investigation network drama Darker,and since then,a large number of high-quality works that focus on social issues and reflect social thinking have been widely praised.Taking 2014 as the node and comprehensively considering Douban score,platform playback and other elements,this paper selects five criminal investigation network dramas such as Darker,Criminal Minds,Day and Night for narrative turning and audience cognitive identity analysis,and discusses the interactive relationship between the two.Based on the perspective of narratology,the author uses the text analysis method to study the narrative expression of the above five criminal investigation network dramas,and interviewed 6 professionals who have participated in the creation of criminal investigation dramas or related to the film and television drama industry.The study found that criminal investigation network dramas show the following four changes in the narrative techniques: in narrative structure,from linear to non-linear and multi-line parallelism;in narrative rhythm,from long to short episodes,emphasizing multiple suspense;in character shaping,from the simple opposition between right and evil to the complex multi-aspects of right and evil.Then,criminal investigation network dramas show a clear turn in narrative content,emphasizing the mirror reflection of social reality,which is more intuitive than traditional criminal investigation dramas in showing the social contradictions behind crimes.Combined with text mining and in-depth interviews,the author conducted research on audience cognitive identity.On the one hand,2334 Douban short reviews of five criminal investigation network dramas were crawled through Python,and high-frequency word analysis,semantic network analysis and sentiment analysis were conducted;on the other hand,after screening,16 representative audiences were selected for in-depth interviews.The study found that,in terms of audience cognition,the audience’s focus on criminal investigation network dramas is diverse and meticulous,mainly focusing on four aspects: actors and characters,plot content,novel adaptation and domestic type;in terms of audience recognition,the audience’s emotional identification with criminal investigation network dramas generally shows a positive trend,which mainly reflects the recognition of the character shaping and the empathy of the character’s fate,the affirmation of the narrative rhythm and detail design of the story,the appreciation of the audio-visual art of the play,and the social reality shown in the play,the resonance of the social realistic issues in the play,the recognition of the educational significance;the behavior intention of the audience after watching the play is not particularly strong,but the interviewees said that they have learned a certain way of life from the play,and they will pay attention to their daily behavior later.In addition,combining the two aspects of creation and interpretation,the author found that the formation of audience cognitive identity can be analyzed from the subjective and objective aspects.On the one hand,the meaning given by the creator of the drama will affect the audience’s interpretation position,on the other hand,the audience cognitive identity will be affected by the social background and individual characteristics,respectively through social mind-set and individual mind-set.Finally,based on the previous research,the author puts forward suggestions on how to create good criminal investigation network dramas in China’s mainland and give full play to their social significance: first,learn from true crime cases,typically refine,and seek a solution path;second,spread mainstream values and think about the dual normative role of law and morality;third,portray characters close to life and excavate three-dimensional and pluralistic images;fourth,grasp narrative tension and pay attention to the ethical boundaries presented by aesthetics.
