The Effect Of Emotional Labor Research Fans Group Line

For a long time,Chinese scholars’ interpretation of fan culture has relied on the culturalism paradigm of Birmingham School and the exploitation/resistance paradigm of communication political economy.The fan subject is either regarded as the active individual of technological empowerment,or as the object of exploitation of platform capital.In the clamor of theory,the subjectivity of fans is under the structural cover of shrinking,wandering and silence.As a subjective labor landscape of fans,"Affective labor" is often understood in the theoretical context of "affective labor" : Affective labor understands "affective labor" as embodied "affect";Emotion labor understood "aid" as "manage" of perceptual consciousness.The inconsistency of theoretical orientation and the divergence of research paradigm formed a kind of clever and inevitable intertext.As a result,the theory of "emotional labor",despite its considerable potential,has gradually become an "obstacle" in the path of fan labor research and even digital labor research.This study believes that there are two reasons for the emergence of "obstacles".First,the theory of emotional labor,as a Western theory,does not fully adapt to the stratification of China’s social structure and the cultural background of the Internet.Secondly,due to the consideration of theoretical prospect,researchers are usually dissatisfied with the trivial description of phenomena,and expect to obtain a metaphysical and integrated macro cognition.As an extremely stratified social group,the internal fragmentation and heterogeneity of fan group are far greater than the identity.When the theory of "emotional labor" is applied to the process of responding to aid,it can only describe the part of fans’ labor in a peepy way,but cannot obtain the overall cognition of fans’ labor.Based on this,this study decided to find a new way to start from the end of the labor process,to reflect the labor process with the two-dimensional labor effect,so as to obtain the overall cognition of the labor of fans,and through the investigation of the labor practice of fans,to reassess the theoretical potential of the theory of emotional labor.The problems are as follows: first,what is the effect of fans’ emotional labor;Second,what does the effect of fans’ emotional labor represent? Thirdly,to what extent does the effect of fans’ emotional labor have significance for understanding fans’ labor practice?By comparing quantitative data with qualitative materials,this study reveals a paradoxical and interesting fact: subjectively,most fans don’t think of support as a kind of "labor," but objectively,the effects of labor mostly point to burnout.This further reveals the complex picture of structure and capability,empowerment and exploitation intertwined in the labor process of fans.The effect of labor also completes the inversion of meaning in the switching of the field: Emotional satisfaction seems to be the manifestation of fans’ subjectivity,but objectively enhances the control of platform capital on fans’ subjectivity;Emotional burnout seems to be a negative emotion produced by the fans under the intervention of the platform capital,but it is a metaphor for a kind of "bending machine" and "fighting party",which makes it possible for the fans to break away from the game.
