| The good functioning of virtual communities depends on the active interaction and continuous participation of community members. However, the pressure of information brought about by the rapid development of social media may hinder this process. Therefore, this paper attempts to explore the influence of information overload of help-post comments on the knowledge hiding intention of information senders and receivers in online question-and-answer community and its mediating mechanism. The moderating effects of evaluation apprehension and altruism are also discussed. In this paper,a model was built based on the Stressor-Strain-Outcome theory. The questionnaire survey method was adopted to recruit subjects on the platform of Wenjuanxing to collect data.Statistical analysis software such as SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 26.0 was used to analyze data robustness and test hypothesis of the model. The results show that when users act as the sender of help-post information in the question-and-answer community, information overload of help-post comments will stimulate users’ perception of social media fatigue and lead to knowledge hiding.Evaluation apprehension positively moderates the relationship between social media fatigue and knowledge hiding. When the user is the receiver of help-post in the question-and-answer community, the information overload of help-post comment will aggravate the user’s evaluation apprehension and stimulate users’ knowledge hiding.Altruism positively moderates the positive correlation between information overload and users’ evaluation apprehension. This paper provides a new perspective for the study of users’ knowledge hiding in virtual communities. It calls on people to consider knowledge hiding from both two perspective of users as information senders and users as information receivers. It also provides a new way to reduce users’ knowledge hiding in online question-and-answer community. |
