Employment is the foundation of people’s livelihood, the domestic economic pressure has increased in recent years, resulting in a severe situation of declining employed population, declining labor force share and unbalanced employment structure.Fortunately, the digital economy is expected to become a key path to alleviate the above situation, providing a realistic impetus for expanding labor force capacity, improving employment quality, and improving employment structure. In this context, how the rapid development of the digital economy affects the labor market is worth exploring in depth. For this reason, based on the micro-foundation of the digital economy, this paper studies the digital transformation’s impacts on labor demand, share and structure, which will help provide empirical evidence from China for the research on the human capital effect of digital transformation. This paper mainly combines theoretical analysis and empirical research to study the impact of enterprise digital transformation on labor demand, share and structure.Theoretically, based on existing experience and related theories,it is analyzed that digital transformation affects labor demand, share and structure through the combined effects of substitution effect, creation effect and productivity effect;“Post-causes”,where “pre-causes” means that digital transformation has changed the content of production tasks, and “post-causes” means that digital transformation has comprehensively improved enterprise productivity by improving innovation capabilities, capital flow efficiency, and reducing information asymmetry. The reasons for the generation and continuation of the three effects are revealed, and the impact mechanism framework of this paper is formed comprehensively.Empirically, this paper constructs the digital transformation index of 2,831 listed companies in China based on the text analysis method, and establishes a panel two-way fixed effect model based on the relevant data of these companies from 2008 to 2020,and passes benchmark regression, robustness test and endogenous Test and verify the impact mechanism;finally, further analyze the heterogeneity of the impact of digital transformation on the labor market of regions, industries and ownership through extended research. The research conclusions obtained in this paper mainly include:(1)Digital transformation jointly affects labor demand, share and structure through substitution effect, creation effect and productivity effect. The substitution effect of digital transformation dominates the labor demand, which significantly reduces the labor demand;the digital transformation dominates the labor share with the creation effect and productivity effect, which significantly increases the labor share.Through the combined effect of the three effects, digital transformation Significantly reduced the proportion of low-skilled labor and increased the proportion of high-skilled labor.(2)The impact of digital transformation on the labor market is heterogeneous across regions, industries, and ownership. In the process of digital transformation, enterprises in economically developed regions reduce more labor demand, increase more labor share, and increase more high-skilled labor;capital-intensive enterprises reduce more labor demand and more low-skilled labor,technology-intensive industries increase more labor share and high-skilled labor;non-state-owned enterprises reduce labor demand, increase labor share, reduce low-skilled labor and increase the effect of highskilled labor are greater than state-owned enterprises. Finally, based on the research conclusions, this paper proposes policy implications for promoting the development of the digital economy, promoting the digital transformation of enterprises, cultivating professional digital talents, and ensuring employment stability to the government, enterprises, universities, and individual workers,so as to guide the development of the digital economy and labor employment.Coordinated development.
