A Prototype Implementation Of The Network Management For Broadband Multimedia Satellite Communication Networks

With the development of the satellite communication and network technologies,the broadband multi-media satellite network,which can provide multimedia services,high-speed transmission and switching,and global non-seam coverage,has become the tendency of the new generation satellite communication.The satellite communication has the character of the high delay,a little high bit error rate,and the limited resources.In addition,the spaceborne devices and their functions become increasingly more complicated,thus it is necessary for them to transmit more data about the information of the status,fault and control parameters.Therefore,we should develop the network management system to guarantee that the satellite communication networks operate with the high efficiency,security and reliability.This dissertation begins with the introduction to the architecture and network management model of the broadband multimedia satellite communication system.Through the analysis and comparison of the existing network management protocols,we prefer to choose Simple Network Management Protocol(SNMP)as the satellite network management protocol to develop the network management prototype.According to the character of the satellite communication and SNMP,we modify SNMP and enhance its functions in the aspects of the reliability,flow control and way of data transmission.Based on the requirements of the satellite network management system,we propose the architecture of the network management system,and perform the design of the software modules in the management side.By the comparison of the development tools,we choose SNMP++ to perform the design and the basal implementation of the modules of configuration management,performance management and fault management in the network management system.We also verify the prototype of the network management system on the simulation platform.
