This study investigates the mechanism of the role between use of mobile social-media(UMSM)and subjective well-being(SWB)using short video users as the research object. The study 1 adopts a qualitative and quantitative research approach. The study conducted in-depth interviews with 12 short video users to explore the influencing factors that affect the subjective well-being of short video users. The results of the study were as follows:(1)the influential factors affecting the subjective well-being of short video users in the process of using social media usage were information overload and social pressure in environmental factors;physical condition, emotional state, aesthetic fatigue, social comparison, fear of missing out,self-expectation,and self-control in personal factors;passive use and diving factors in behavioral factors;(2)it is further generalized that boredom tendency and time management disposition were the two most important factors that affect users’ subjective wellbeing. The Study 2 adopted questionnaires, using Problematic Mobile Social Media Usage Assessment Questionnaire,General Well-Being Schedule, and Boredom tendency Scale,Time Management Disposition Scale to test 614 short video users to explore the relationship between the four variables. The results of Study 2 were as follows:(1)significant correlations between variables, with use of mobile social-media and subjective well-being significantly negatively correlated and boredom proneness significantly positively correlated;boredom proneness was significantly negatively correlated with both time management disposition and subjective well-being;with the highest correlation between boredom proneness and subjective well-being(r =-0.621,p < 0.001);(2)boredom proneness in UMSM and subjective well-being;(3)time management disposition can play a moderating role between UMSM and boredom proneness.Conclusions:(1)The most important factors influencing subjective well-being of short video users were boredom proneness and time management disposition;(2)UMSM can negatively predict subjective well-being;(3)UMSM can influence subjective well-being both directly and through boredom proneness, and time management disposition played a moderating role between UMSM and boredom proneness. This study explores the relationship between UMSM and subjective well-being,and provided a theoretical basis for its mechanism of action.Users should use mobile social media appropriately to reduce the negative experience, and then improve the positive experience and well-being of individuals.
