| In an international context where relations between Russia and China continue to warm up,the development of “The Belt and Road”(B&R),a Chinese initiative in Russia,has become an interesting topic.The media can act as a moderating and magnifying glass in this process of state-to-state cooperation.The media’s coverage shows Russia’s perception of and attitude towards “The Belt and Road” issue.The article examines how China’s B&R initiative is presented in the mainstream Russian newspaper “Izvestiya”.As the most authoritative and representative media in Russia,“Izvestiya” has a more accurate analysis and interpretation of “The Belt and Road”initiative,and is able to provide a more comprehensive picture of how it is being publicised in Russia.In this paper,we analyse the perception and evaluation of “The Belt and Road” initiative by the Russian mainstream media from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives,taking the coverage of the Initiative by the leading Russian newspaper “Izvestiya” from 2013 to2021 as the subject of our study.The aim is to understand how “The Belt and Road” initiative is represented in “Izvestiya”,as well as the proportion and quality of coverage. |
