More people are utilizing social media outside of work hours for personal,nonjob-related purposes. As a result, businesses must determine and mitigate the consequences of such behavior. The current research examines how communication, content creation, file sharing, and hedonic practices influence the performance of employees in Yemen’s telecommunication sector. It also investigated the role of employee commitment as a mediating element among the parameters.A questionnaire was issued to 400 workers of Yemeni telecommunication firms.Only 247 samples were found to be suitable for analysis. The records were evaluated using SPSS 26 and AMOS26.According to the findings of the hierarchical regression, social media is favorably connected with job performance and employee commitment.Furthermore, there is a statistically significant link between employee performance and employee commitment.Employee performance was also affected by chatting and online discussion, file sharing, content creation, and hedonic practices, according to the research.Chatting and online discussion,on the contrary, have a favorable and considerable impact on employee commitment.Content creation has a big impact on employee commitment.According to the current study’s findings, file sharing has a favorable impact on employee commitment.Hedonic practices,on the contrary, have a negative and minor impact on employee commitment.Employee commitment significantly mediates the relationship between chatting and online discussion, content creation, file sharing, and employee performance in the current study. In the current study, however, the mediating impact of employee commitment between hedonic practices and employee performance is not significant.Chatting and discussion, content creation, file sharing, hedonic practices, employee commitment, and employee performance were all demonstrated in this study’s findings. This study contributes to the existing knowledge that is developing in the areas of social media, job commitment, and job performance.
