Abstract/Summary:
The vigorous development of social media has triggered a subversive change in information search behavior. In the era of Internet 2.0,social search has become a cognitive process of users’ self-learning,and it is an indispensable way for information searching.Research on social search behavior has become a new research topic in the field of current user information behavior.Value co-creation based on social interaction is a distinctive feature of social search.User sharing of information clues has an important impact on cognitive changes in social search. Therefore, this paper explores the cognitive mechanism in social search based on sense-making theory.First, this study clarifies the related concepts of social search, interprets the theoretical basis of constructivism and meaning construction, analyzing the connotation of cognitive structure and schema.Secondly, based on constructivism theory, this paper builds a cognitive concept model of social search, analyzes the user cognitive process of social search, and interprets user cognitive change based on user interaction and collaboration(sharing information clues)in the process of social search to explain the impact of social search on user cognition(schema). In addition, based on the experimental method, this paper further explores the influence of shared information clues and user information literacy on users’ motivational satisfaction in social search and new schema cognition in the process of social search. The research results show that information literacy and shared information cues have interaction effect on schema cognition.Information literacy partly affects the satisfaction of social search motivation(hedonistic intrinsic motivation/knowledge acquisition extrinsic motivation),and information experience learning information literacy affects schema cognition in social search. This paper reveals the changing process of users’ cognition in social search from the perspective of meaning construction. The research conclusions have implications for further expanding the concept of search as learning and innovating social search service strategies.
