| The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of 2019 involved Wuhan into the "eye of the storm" of public opinion.While reporting the epidemic via short video media,mainstream media also directly or indirectly participated in and helped the construction and repair of Wuhan’s image.What city image did the videos present specifically? How does the mainstream media construct Wuhan’s image via audio-visual elements,narrative perspective and theme expression? How to use short videos to construct identity of Wuhan city image? What kind of experience and lessons can the mainstream media provide to other cities in building and repairing the city image with the help of Tik Tokshort videos? In order to explore the above problems,this paper selects short videos related to Wuhan released by mainstream media on Tik Tokduring the COVID-19(January 20 to May 8,2020)as samples to study and analyze the Wuhan city image constructed and presented.The first chapter introduced the relations between Tik Tok short videos and Wuhan’s city image.This chapter,on the basis of deciphering connotations and functions of city image,introduced the challenges of city image construction during the COVID-19 and how mainstream media did via Tik Tok short videos.The second chapter studied Wuhan’s city image presented by Tik Tok short videos via analyzing that of the government,citizens,culture and economy.The third chapter deconstructed the short video content from the perspective of audio-visual language,narrative strategy and the audience’s creative intention,and explored the overall framework and strategy of Tik Tok short video in constructing the city image.The fourth chapter analyzed how mainstream media constructed Wuhan city image identity through short videos from the process of city image identity composed by individual,group and social identities.The concluding chapter reflected the process of Wuhan’s urban image construction and repairing,summarized feasible suggestions in response to the epidemic crisis,and provided references for other city against possible sporadic cases. |
