Visible light communication uses white LED as the light source,and uses the high-speed light and dark flicker signal carried by the light to transmit information.Because LED has the advantages of energy saving,low cost and high efficiency,visible light communication will usher in rapid development.Therefore,how to continue to promote the development of LED visible light communication technology in China is worth exploring.Understanding the development of technology through patent data and analyzing the evolution process will help find the trend and core of development in this field,which is an important way to achieve technological innovation and development.Based on the global patent data of LED visible light communication technology,this paper studies from many aspects through visual analysis.Firstly,the overall situation of LED visible light communication technology is studied and analyzed from five aspects : patent application trend,patent market layout,patent technology composition,technology evolution trend and technology life cycle.The research shows that LED visible light communication technology patents were first applied abroad,while China entered the field late,but the number of Chinese patents has lagged behind,which has a key impact on the global number;patents are mainly applied in five major countries / regions,and China has the largest number of patents,accounting for about 42.3 %.The patents in this field mainly involve visible light communication technology systems,transmission devices,components and transportation applications.The number of patents ranked first is H04B10/ 116(visible light communication).Then,the social network analysis method is used to analyze LED visible light communication technology from four dimensions : the evolution of innovation subject technology network,the evolution of innovation subject cooperation network,the evolution of innovation subject country distribution network and the evolution of layout country / region technology innovation network.According to the research,enterprises in this field tend to focus on technology research,and the degree is gradually increasing;the number of cooperative groups gradually increased,but the groups were scattered and did not form a large group network;in the early stage of development,European and American countries were the main markets,and in the later stage of development,China became the main market.The technology hotspot gradually shifted from infrastructure to core technologies such as visible light communication transmission systems.Furthermore,the core patent identification index system is constructed,and the core patents are selected according to the Innography platform division method,and the evolution analysis of their technical topics is carried out.According to the research,in the development cycle of LED visible light communication technology,the core patent IPC presents three evolutionary relationships : birth,death and inheritance.The technology research and development focus of core patents is H04B10;in the embryonic stage of technology,technology research and development are mostly explored in the field of extension,and there are few innovative subjects who master the core technologies such as communication transmission system.Finally,the patent portfolio matrix diagram is constructed to distinguish four types of innovation subjects,and the relationship network diagram is used to explore and compare technical hotspots.It is found that the number of technology leader regions is less than that of other regions,but the patent activities and patent value of innovation subjects in this region are higher than those in other regions.The technology activists are almost from Chinese universities,indicating that China ’s visible light communication technology is in the rising stage of development,still in the laboratory stage,and it takes time to form industrialization.The main technical directions involved in the patents of the four innovation subjects are roughly the same,all of which are H04B10.The infrastructure of optical communication technology is the top of the technology group connected by the technology laggard and the node H04B10,and the digital information transmission among the technology leaders and technology activists is the research and development hotspot.
