| Open access,as a new publishing model,is increasingly gaining attention.With the aim of disseminating knowledge,open sharing,and free access,open access brings new vitality to academic book publishing.Building a sustainable business model is a consideration for any enterprise in its operations,and open access academic book publishers are no exception.However,in the era of the internet economy,the narrow value chain business model is no longer able to form a competitive advantage under homogeneous competition among enterprises.Therefore,enterprises urgently need to transform to a value network business model to achieve cross-industry competition and cooperation,as well as leapfrogging.To provide recommendations for optimizing the business model of academic book open access,this article focuses on studying its value network-based model.This article covers several aspects related to academic book open access and its business model.Initially,it introduces the fundamental concepts of academic book open access and provides an overview of its business model.Then,it applies the value network theory to construct the academic book open access value network and analyze its corresponding business model.Subsequently,the article employs the system dynamics method to simulate and analyze the value network business model,using Open Book Publishers as a practical case.By doing so,it presents insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by academic book open access in the real world.Finally,drawing on the above analysis and observations,this article proposes a range of countermeasures and strategies that can help enhance the business model of academic book open access.Overall,this paper presents a thorough analysis of academic book open access and its business model,with the intention of driving its future development and growth. |
