The research of professional identity originates from the concept of "self-identity" put forward by Erik H.Erikson in the 1950s in his research on adolescent psychological phenomena and problems.Since then,it has been widely used in psychology, sociology, pedagogy and many other disciplines.Since then, the domestic scholar Fan Yaping started the related research on the professional identity of journalism and communication discipline from the perspective of the professional identity of the journalists in the Republic of China.Nowadays, new media and its technologies are developing with each passing day, which not only requires journalists to master new editing abilities, but also requires them to have a clear and thorough cognition of their career development and career positioning in the face of complex social environment and public opinion environment. As the Party and state journalists who shoulder "holding high the banner and guiding the direction",how do they know their occupation, whether they are satisfied with their occupation, how to shape the right professional identity so that the group of journalists can better serve the people and do a good job of public opinion publicity? It has become an important research objective of this paper with "professional identity" as the core and "journalists" as the research object.By sorting out "journalism professionalism" and "investigative report of journalists",this paper achieves a preliminary understanding of the image of journalists, and on this basis completes the construction of interview outline and interview questions. Then, journalists in Ningxia Hui Autonomous region are divided into different regions and different media levels to determine the specific research objects, and semi-open interview commonly used in qualitative research is taken as the research method, combined with the author’s observation and experience in the internship and study of journalism and communication at undergraduate and postgraduate level,to complete all the practical content of this research. The study found that,in terms of the status quo of professional identity, pragmatic and simple professional cognition constituted the background of journalists’ professional cognition in Ningxia. On top of the background color, the sense of responsibility and professional pride can almost shine in every journalist.Even for the long-term deep in the district, county and grassroots journalists, the pursuit and ideal of higher level are never absent. At the level of influencing factors of professional identity, individual honor pursuit and value realization have become an important source of power for the positive feeding of ideals and firm beliefs.Of course, the negative effects related to work stress and work characteristics should not be ignored. In addition, the changes of society and media technology have brought about the cognitive reconstruction of journalists with the deepening of media convergence. In the face of these status quo and problems, inspired by Erikson’s "life cycle" theory, the author takes the career of journalists as a whole, and takes the decomposition points before, during and after employment as countermeasures to propose relevant solutions for the promotion of professional identity of journalists.
