In recent years,Big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence and other digital technologies have sprung up,and are achieving integration and development with various fields of social economy, gradually forming a digital economy with information and data as the production factors. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly requires accelerating the development of digital economy.Total factor productivity is an important indicator to measure the quality of regional economic development. At present,China’s economy is in urgent need of changing from an extensional development model relying on the growth of input factor quantity to an intensional development model relying on the improvement of Total factor productivity. The rise and prosperity of the digital economy has endowed Total factor productivity with "new fields, new tracks" and "new driving forces and new advantages".In this context, carrying out empirical research on digital economy enabling Total factor productivity will help to explore the realization path of digital economy promoting high-quality development in China, and find a new engine to guide economic development in China. This paper first makes a theoretical analysis of the digital economy and Total factor productivity, then constructs a measurement index system to measure the digital economy through the entropy method, selects the input-output indicators to measure Total factor productivity using the super efficiency DEA-GM method, and then analyzes the measurement results from the aspects of temporal development trend and spatial differentiation characteristics. On this basis,The ordinary panel model and spatial panel model are constructed in turn to conduct benchmark regression analysis and model expansion analysis of the impact of digital economy development on Total factor productivity. The research results indicate that the overall level of digital economy development has gradually improved, and in recent years, due to economic downward pressure, the growth rate has slowed down, showing a spatial heterogeneity of gradient decreasing in the east, middle, and west. The phenomenon of the digital divide is relatively serious, but the regional relative gap is constantly narrowing; In recent years,China’s Total factor productivity has accelerated the transformation from economic development to innovation driven, driving Total factor productivity to rise continuously. There are regional differences in growth, and the western region generally grows slowly; The development of the digital economy can significantly improve Total factor productivity, while the degree of marketization and the level of scientific and technological innovation play a positive role in the mechanism test. The spatial spillover effect of the development of the digital economy on Total factor productivity is significant, while there is regional heterogeneity in this effect. The spillover effect in the central and western regions is significantly positive, while the spillover effect in the eastern regions is not significant. In conclusion, based on the results of theoretical analysis, measurement analysis and empirical analysis, this paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions to promote the development of the digital economy and enable Total factor productivity, including:promoting the development of the digital economy and accelerating the construction of digital China;Improve the role of market mechanisms and enhance the level of technological innovation;Optimize the layout of the digital economy and promote coordinated regional development.
