Research On Spatial Differences And Influencing Factors Of Digital Economy Based On Spatial Econometric Model

With the continuous advancement of digitalization,the digital economy has become an important driving force for economic development.In this background,this paper studies digital economy in 31 provinces in China from 2001 to 2020.The Gini coefficient and its decomposition are used to study the spatial differences of the digital economy and the main provinces that form regional differences are identified by spatial clustering.Secondly,the Moran’s I index,Moran scatter plot and Lisa agglomeration chart are used to analyze the spatial autocorrelation of the digital economy.Then,the panel spatial Durbin model and semi-parametric panel spatial Durbin model are constructed to analyze the influencing factors of the digital economy.The results show as follows.(1)From 2001 to 2020,the scale of the digital economy in each provinces shows an overall upward trend.The overall differences in the eastern,central and western regions shows a trend of increase-decrease-increase.From the perspective of the internal differences of the three major regions,the difference of the digital economy in the western region is the largest,followed by the eastern and central regions,and the internal differences of the three major regions are increasing year by year.Among the three major regions of our country,the difference between the west and the east is the largest,but gradually decreasing.The provinces that affect the regional differences of China’s digital economy include Shandong,Jiangsu,Shanghai,Zhejiang,and Guangdong,mainly due to their superior geographical conditions and high industrial economic benefits.(2)The global Moran’s I index is positive from 2001 to 2020.Before 2013,the agglomeration of provinces with similar levels of digital economy has weakened.Since2013,provinces with similar levels of digital economy have become more agglomerated.The Yangtze River Delta and its surrounding areas shows high-high aggregation,while the northwest region mainly shows a low-low aggregation pattern.(3)From the perspective of linear spatial econometric model,the improvement of digital foundation,digital innovation,digital transaction and digital governance will promote the growth of the digital economy in the province.Digital foundation and digital transactions will also promote the improvement of the digital economy level of other neighboring provinces.Digital governance has a role in promoting the growth of digital economy in neighboring provinces.From the perspective of the semi-parameter panel model,digital innovation,digital trading and digital governance have a significant impact on the development of digital economy.The role of digital foundation in promoting the digital economy firstly increases and then decreases.(4)The impacts of digital innovation and digital governance on the central and the east are positive,and the role of digital economy in the eastern part of the digital economy increases firstly and then decreases,and the digital economy in the central region gradually increases.For the western region,digital innovation,digital trading,and digital governance all have significant positive effects on the digital economy,and the role of digital foundation in promoting the digital economy continues to rise.The digital base in the western region promotes the digital economy more than the eastern and central regions.Therefore,the central and western regions should strengthen digital infrastructure.On the basis of strengthening digital infrastructure,the eastern region attaches importance to investment in scientific and technological innovation.
