New media has given marginalized groups and the disadvantaged the right to speak for themselves, changing the picture of discourse control to a certain extent.Discourse is the result of power games and the object of group struggle. In the era of new media, discourse serves as a weapon of resistance for the marginalized and disadvantaged, who appeal to their individual or group desires through discourse, and establish the authority of collective narratives by pooling their self-narratives,so as to arouse society’s attention to the plight of the group. As a part of women’s daily life, menstruation is often discussed outside of the medical framework and is given cultural imagery of "filth" and "uncleanness" in a politically and culturally charged life world. The taboo culture of menstruation has become incompatible with the physiological and spiritual needs of women nowadays, and women are engaged in an online discursive struggle based on the issue of menstrual taboos. This paper takes women’s discourse on menstrual taboos on microblogging platforms as the object of study, and explores how menstrual dilemmas are reproduced in women’s daily lives through a critical discourse research framework combined with interviews, and explores the value demands behind women’s discourse and the social reality behind the discourse. The study finds that at the micro-textual level, women’s discourses of resistance can be divided into text-oriented "self-talk" and visual-oriented "image production. At the level of discursive practice, women use social media to engage in discursive resistance, building"sisterhood" through discourse to contest the visibility of menstruation, rewriting and even subverting gender norms hidden in everyday life.At the level of social practice, the presentation of the issue of menstrual taboo on social media platforms reflects.on the one hand, that women’s groups are still not free from the shackles of traditional power structures and the empowerment of disadvantaged groups by social media, and on the other hand,it also reflects that the discussion of the issue of menstrual taboo should not be confined to women’s groups, but should be aware of the group poverty and youth sex education problems hidden under the taboo of menstruation.
