This study focuses on the television cultural variety program China in the Classics produced by China Central Radio and Television(CCTV),and uses Media-spectacle theory in conjunction with the concept of cultural identity to analyze the intrinsic ways in which the program’s landscape is constructed, and identifies the shaping of viewers’cultural identity behind the program’s Media-spectacle construction through content analysis. The study divides the program’s Media-spectacle construction into three dimensions:symbolic, narrative, ritual and progressively deciphers the characteristics behind the program’s Media-spectacle and its cognitive impact on cultural identity. From the symbolic dimension, the linguistic symbols of the characters as the "tone setting medium" set the tone of the program;the visual symbols through lighting, choreography, costumes and props, etc.Visual symbols through lighting, choreography, costume and props to build a"visual performance";music in tone, sound effects, instrumental music and other dimensions together to serve the picture narrative;at the same time, the program with AR,VR and other modern technology together to create an audio visual scape to promote the classics, and integrated 5G communication technology to complete the effect of multi-platform communication.Secondly, from the narrative dimension, firstly, the program realizes the dramatization of the classics through multiple perspectives such as leading from internal and external perspectives and boosting from zero focus perspectives;then the program creates a stage effect of "crossing" by reconstructing the narrative time and space;finally, the narrative structure is revitalized through the "family and country as one".Last, the program activates the narrative structure through the path of growth of characters, completing a dramatization of the canonical texts.Third is the ritual dimension:the program creates two kinds of rituals:text reading and "man in the mirror" through agenda setting, and promotes the emotional communication between the program and the audience by repeatedly reading and creating a cohesive scene, realizing the ritualized performance of the program. In short, the program constructs a Media-spectacle through three dimensions, and finally presents a vivid historical picture for the audience. On the level of cultural identity, through the analysis of the program’s review texts on the Douban platform,it was found that the number of positive comments exceeded the number of negative comments in the texts, and it is believed that the Media-spectacle constructed by the program plays a positive role in shaping identity.Next, through detailed analysis,we found that the three levels of "character symbols","text recitation" and"spatio-temporal dialogue" in the review texts have a greater impact on the shaping of audiences’ cultural identity, and that China in the Classics has significantly contributed to the revitalization of history and the shaping of cultural identity through the construction of Media-spectacle.However,in the process of analyzing the commentary texts,it is found that there are some criticisms about the errors caused by the lack of rigor in the creation process of the program, which is also a problem that needs to be improved in the process of shaping the identity of future TV cultural variety shows.
