| In recent years, the fifth-generation mobile communication technology(5G)has begun to be deployed in various terminal and base station equipment.Compared with the 4G era,5G technology has key improvements in multiple indicators such as peak rate, spectrum efficiency, mobility, and delay, and also enhances the ability to support differentiated application scenarios. With the gradual maturity of research on the Internet of Things, virtual reality,Internet of Vehicles, etc.,the need for systemlevel performance evaluation of new applications that may appear in the 5G era has also emerged. This paper mainly studies the performance of XR and RedCap in 5G system, two new directions proposed in 3GPP’s R17 standard.By building a system-level simulation platform, the system’s support for these two new directions is evaluated from user satisfaction rate, throughput and other aspects. The XR business is an umbrella term for Augmented Reality(AR),Mixed Reality(MR)and Virtual Reality(VR).At present,XR service is one of the important 5 G multimedia application directions in the eMBB application scenario. For the study of XR service, first of all,it is necessary to determine its business model and the business parameters of several typical scenes such as VR and CG.The capacity of the whole system is evaluated by statistics of packet loss and delay of video frames of all users in the system.RedCap(Reduced Capability)refers to the terminal in the system that reduces transmission capacity appropriately to save cost and reduce energy consumption. The new technical standard proposed by R17 requires RedCap to reduce energy consumption, save cost and reduce equipment complexity on the basis of meeting certain performance requirements. For the RedCap study, this paper evaluates the impact of reduced terminal device performance on user throughput, packet success, etc. This paper analyzes the influence of the traditional data service represented by FTP and the new 5G service type,XR,on the co-existence of RedCap users and eMBB users in the system. |
