Dual-Band And Broadband Dual-Polarized Antenna For 5G Millimeter Wave Applications

Abstract/Summary:
Recently,with the rapid development of wireless mobile communication,the users are no longer satisfied with the data transmission rate of existing mobile communication system,so the 5th Generation Mobile Communication(5G)system introduced millimeter wave mobile communication technology.As an important device of 5G millimeter wave mobile communication system,millimeter wave antenna has also become one of the research difficulties.The design and implementation of millimeter wave antennas with dual-polarization,wideband,dual-band and broadside radiation characteristics for different application scenarios is becoming a hot and difficult problem.In this paper,the research is carried out for these hotspots and difficulties,and the main research content is as follows:1.Aiming at the research hotspot of antenna design with dual-band and sideemission radiation characteristics,a substrate integrated waveguide(SIW)aperturecoupled dual-band millimeter wave patch antenna is proposed in this letter.Firstly,the operating mode of the microstrip patch antenna is analyzed,and the TM20 mode of the microstrip patch antenna is improved by using the longitudinal slot etched on the patch,and the dual-band operation is achieved by resonating the TM10 mode and the improved TM20 mode of the microstrip patch antenna at high and low frequencies respectively,and the resonance of the slit is introduced at low frequencies to extend the bandwidth of the antenna.The measured results show that the designed antenna has |S11|≤-10 dB in the working bandwidth 23.9-31.1GHz and 36.9-43.6GHz;the radiation pattern of the antenna is stable and the cross-polarization is below-20dB;the peak gain is 8.2dBi.2.Aiming at the research hotspot of antenna design with multi-polarization,broadband and side-emission radiation characteristics,a substrate integrated coaxial line(SICL)aperture-coupled wideband dual-polarized millimeter wave patch antenna is designed.The broadband single-polarization radiation is firstly achieved by combining the TM10 mode and the modified TM20 mode of the patch antenna,and the broadband dual-polarization radiation is achieved by exciting the TM01 mode and the modified TM02 mode of the patch antenna.The measured results show that the designed antenna has |S11| and |S22|≤-10 d B in the frequency band 24.0-40.0GHz,and the isolation of two input port is better than 30 d B;the radiation pattern of the antenna is stable,and the cross-polarization is below-20 dB;the gain of port 1 is 6.20-8.05 d Bi in the working band,and the gain of port 2 is 6.18-8.14 d Bi in the working band.Moreover,the compact size and shape of the proposed antenna are very suitable for array design.
