| With the continuous deepening of social aging and the deep popularization of the Internet,smart phones are affecting the daily life of the elderly.More and more elderly people start to contact smart phones and carry out a series of daily activities through mobile app products.Intelligence has gradually become the new normal of people’s life.However,due to the short time that the elderly have been exposed to smartphones,they generally lack information literacy and experience in using smartphones,resulting in difficulties in understanding and learning in the process of using APP.How to improve the usability of intelligent products from the perspective of elderly-oriented design and better integration of the elderly into the digital age has become a direction worth exploring.This topic starts from the perspective of visual semiotics.First of all,the research status of elderly-oriented design and visual symbol design in the field of app interaction design at home and abroad is systematically reviewed,summarize the existing research results and existing shortcomings.Then,combined with app elderly-oriented interaction design,visual symbols,visual cognition and other related theories,and through observation methods,questionnaires,in-depth interviews and other forms of research on the elderly user groups,the visual cognitive characteristics of the elderly were analyzed.In the process of investigation,the needs of users were analyzed,and the pain points of using visual symbols were further analyzed based on the visual cognitive characteristics of elderly users.Next,on the basis of Morris’ s semiotics theory,the visual symbol system in the app interface is constructed from the four levels of semantics,syntactics,context,and pragmatics.Based on the constructed visual symbol system and the previous research results,the elderly-oriented coding strategy of app visual symbol is proposed;Finally,considering the needs of elderly users and the elderly-oriented design strategy of visual symbols,by creating user portraits and drawing user behavior maps,completed the "APP-Newsday" design study for seniors and conducted a usability assessment.Through systematic theoretical research and design practice,this topic constructs the visual symbol system in app interface,proposes the elderlyoriented design strategy for visual symbols,and completes the elderly-oriented interactive design practice for news and information apps based on this strategy.The usability evaluation results show that the aging coding strategy proposed based on visual symbol system greatly reduces the cognitive impairment of elderly users in the process of APP use,improves the experience of elderly users,and provides corresponding reference value for the field of APP elderly-oriented design. |
