A Comparative Study Of Chen Duxiu And Hu Shi’s Journalistic Ethics Thoughts

In recent years,with the role and position of Chen Duxiu and Hu Shi in the modern history of our country being viewed more objectively and comprehensively,the academic research on Chen Duxiu and Hu Shi’s thoughts has been paid more and more attention,and the relevant academic achievements are quite fruitful.Because of the multiplicity and complexity of their identities,the research on related thoughts presents an obvious interdisciplinary picture.Previous studies on their thoughts mostly started from their status as politicians,writers and educators.In recent years,the research on their news thoughts from the perspective of "journalists" or "journalists" has become increasingly popular.The academic circles have realized the importance of Chen and Hu’s news thoughts,but at present,there is still a lack of systematic analysis of their news ethics,let alone a comparative study of their news ethics.Based on John.M.Frame’s Trinity Epistemology,this paper takes Chen Duxiu and Hu Shi as the research objects.Firstly,it combs the news practice experience of Chen and Hu who participated in the establishment and management of newspapers and magazines in stages,especially during the May Fourth Movement and New Culture Movement.Then,relying on their articles on news ethics,this paper analyzes their respective news ethics thoughts through content analysis and comparative research.And using the trinity epistemology,starting from the three perspectives contained in this theory: normative perspective,situational perspective and existential perspective,combining with the 12 ethical dimensions established in this paper,such as independence and truth,this paper compares the similarities and differences of their journalistic ethical thoughts.Finally,combined with the current news ethics anomie phenomenon,this paper analyzes the enlightenment of their news ethics thoughts to future generations.This paper finds that Chen Duxiu’s and Hu Shi’s journalistic ethics thoughts almost completely cover all the ethical dimensions corresponding to the above three perspectives,and both of them put freedom of speech,truthfulness and independence at the center.The biggest difference between them is their understanding of freedom of speech,tolerance and the relationship between news and politics.Because of the wide dimensions involved and the deep discussion,Chen and Hu’s journalistic ethics still have reference significance to today’s journalistic practice.
