| With the development of artificial intelligence and digital technology, deepfake and its works are spreading rapidly around the world, while at the same time providing many opportunities for people with ulterior motives to create and disseminate fake information, resulting in a wide range of deepfake being published all over the internet and social media.Deepfake, while at the service of human beings, has also made it possible for people to say and do things they have never said and done before, causing a serious impact on public trust and continuing to pose a serious risk and challenge to the state, leaving individuals in a state of apathy where everything is false. In this paper,we try to investigate the factors that influence the trust of the audience due to deepfake information, and find out the mechanism of the trust of the audience to deepfake of information,in order to raise people’s awareness of deepfake information and risk prevention. This paper adopts the research method of grounded theory to explore the influencing factors that prompt audience trust during the dissemination of deepfake information.First,it defines the concepts of deepfake information as well as trust and trusting behaviour, and compares the current status of research on deepfake information, the status of research on trust and trusting behaviour, and the status of research on the trusting behaviour of the audience of deepfake information, thus demonstrating the need for this research study.Secondly, through the three-level coding analysis of the interview materials,a more comprehensive analysis of the influencing factors of audience trust in the process of deepfake information dissemination was conducted. In the process of analysis,a total of 73 initial codes,12 categories,7 main categories and 1 core category were extracted, and combined with the Stimulus-Organism-Response Model(SOR model)was used to construct a model of the influence of trust behaviour on the audience of deepfake information.Thirdly, based on the model,we explain the contents of the factors influencing the trust behaviour of the audience of deepfake information, and explain the causal, mediating and moderating relationships among the influencing factors.Fourthly, the interviewees mention the hazards of trust in the audience of deepfake information and propose corresponding measures to address the potential hazards of the current deepfake information dissemination. This paper finds that in the process of audiences’ trust in deepfake information:firstly, the representation of deepfake information and information quality factors have an important influence on audiences’ perceived riskiness and perceived usefulness, and the perceptual element plays a mediating role in the role of the information element on trust behaviour;secondly, the interpersonal and social environment of the environmental element has an important influence on audiences’ perceived riskiness and perceived usefulness. The perceptual element plays a mediating role in the role of the environmental element on trust behavior;third, the technological element of deepfake technology and media technology has a strong influence on the audience’s perceptual element, and the perceptual element plays a mediating role in the role of the technological element on trust behavior;fourth, information literacy,as well as the basic characteristics and psychological emotions of individuals, mainly play a moderating role in the influence of external stimulus factors on individual perception, and different the perceived risk and usefulness of deepfake information varies across gender, age, and audiences with different levels of knowledge and psychological emotions. |
