As the most popular new generation mobile communication technology,5G has been integrated into our daily life. However, due to the short wavelength of the 5G signal and the small coverage of the base station, the high speed and low delay of the5 G signal have not been fully reflected, resulting in poor mobile phone user experience. Therefore, the planning and optimization of 5G mobile network has become the key point of 5G at this stage.First of all, this paper introduces the basic propagation theory of radio waves. When wireless signals propagate in wireless channels, they encounter obstacles such as buildings, vegetation and roads, which will cause path loss, slow fading(shadow fading)and fast fading, which may cause weak coverage or no coverage problems in wireless networks. Then the evaluation index of weak coverage and no coverage in5 G wireless network and key technologies of 5G wireless network are given. Finally, the planning and optimization of 5G wireless network for university scenarios are studied, and the research contents are as follows:This paper faces the scene of university campus,a high-precision 3D digital map of a university campus in Yunnan was created.Atoll software was used to simulate the 5G wireless network planning from a completely blank network. The geographical location of the base station was surveyed on site, and the 5G wireless network of the university was constructed. The simulation results showed that the coverage and capacity basically met the requirements. The engineering parameters are shown in Appendix A;Further dividing the university into six main functional areas, frequency locking measurements were carried out on 5G signals in the 3.4G frequency band.Using the Standard Propagation Model(SPM)and least squares algorithm,a propagation model(USPM)suitable for the university’s scene was calibrated. The results indicate that this propagation model is more suitable for predicting path loss in the actual campus environment of the university. This model can be directly used for 5G network planning and optimization in similar university scenarios to improve user experience and reduce 5G network construction and optimization costs.
