| With the improvement of the level of economic development, imported aquatic products have gained more and more consumers’ favor by virtue of their richer product structure and excellent product quality. However, the domestic regulatory authorities have detected the newly crown virus in imported cold-chain aquatic products and their outer packaging several times during the epidemic, and the public opinion that the production and transportation of imported cold-chain aquatic products may lead to the spread of the virus spread rapidly, triggering public concern about the quality and safety of imported aquatic products and further leading to a crisis in the aquatic industry. The rapid development of the mobile Internet has broken the limitations of information dissemination in time and space, and the public is increasingly expressing their attitudes and demands through online platforms in the face of crisis events. The rapid development of social media has also opened up new opportunities for food safety crisis management. In the social media context, information dissemination is changing from a one-way government-led approach to a multi-disciplinary one.The public expresses its views and participates in crisis management through social media, while government departments participate in public opinion and respond to public opinion through social media.Public opinion on the Internet can reflect public perceptions of events and influence the trend of events, and public comments become the most direct reflection of the government’s management capabilities. Therefore,it is important to study the network public opinion of the highly sensitive and long-lasting imported aquatic product safety event with the risk of virus transmission in the special context of the new crown epidemic, and to analyze the possible problems of the current imported aquatic product safety crisis management in China from the public’s perspective,in order to further improve the safety management capability of imported aquatic products in China. The study raises two key questions: first, the characteristics of public reactions and content themes of concern for imported aquatic product safety events with the risk of virus transmission;second, how to further improve China’s imported aquatic product safety crisis management capacity in response to the problems exposed by this food safety event.Based on the existing literature, this paper firstly explains the research background, the current situation of research, the purpose and significance of research as well as the research content and methods, and defines the concepts of network public opinion, crisis management and sentiment analysis involved in the research, and composes the relevant theories such as crisis management theory, life cycle theory and emotion cognition theory. Then,we combine the LDA-based topic clustering method, sentiment analysis method and relationship mapping method to text-mine netizens’ comments, analyze public attitudes and expectations in imported aquatic product safety events, further explore the problems still existing in China’s imported aquatic product safety crisis management, and put forward corresponding countermeasure suggestions. The analysis found that for the imported aquatic product safety event with virus transmission risk, the online public opinion has the following five types of characteristics: the public attention to the imported aquatic product safety event lasts for a long time;the proportion of negative sentiment in the public opinion of this food safety event is higher compared with other food safety events;the public demand for information is broader in scope;the public expands from concern about individual food events to concern about the whole imported aquatic product industry chain. The public’s attitude toward crisis management and control policies is divided;the government and the media do not respond to the public’s concern about the content topics to a high degree. In view of the performance and characteristics of online public opinion, countermeasures to further enhance the crisis management capability of imported aquatic products safety are proposed: at a time when social media has become the main channel for the public to obtain and disseminate information, for food safety incidents, regulatory authorities should actively pay attention to public reactions and take corresponding measures according to the stage of public opinion development. In the special context, the need to strengthen the safety risk assessment of imported aquatic products, the establishment of imported aquatic products safety events classification management approach.Build a traceability system for imported aquatic products and establish a special recall mechanism for imported food safety.Clarify the division of labor among different political media cooperation and focus on the public’s multifaceted information needs for unexpected food safety events. This paper takes the imported aquatic product safety events during the newly crowned epidemic of pneumonia as an example and demonstrates that for imported food safety events of relatively long duration and with many event shifts, the results of internet opinion data mining can help us understand in detail the public’s response to crisis management. The research in this paper helps to gain insight into the shortcomings that still exist in the crisis management of imported aquatic product safety in China at this stage,so that targeted countermeasure suggestions can be put forward. At the same time, the findings of this paper are applicable to possible future imported food safety events with the risk of virus transmission. However, there are still shortcomings in this paper, such as the single choice of social media platforms, the lack of other types of data such as pictures and videos in the collection of public opinion data and the lack of further detailed division of negative sentiments, which can be further improved in future research. |
