An Analysis Of The Operation Mechanism Of Local Mainstream Media Think Tanks

With the development of Internet technology and the deepening of media integration,the audience has put forward higher requirements for the ideological and wisdom of media products,and the traditional media operation mode has been unable to meet the needs of the audience.Driven by the guidance of national policies and the needs of traditional media transformation,local mainstream media think tanks emerge at the historic moment,providing ideas for solving the development dilemma of traditional media.An in-depth study of the operation mechanism of media think tanks is of great significance for promoting media transformation and strengthening the construction of new think tanks with Chinese characteristics.Most of the existing literature focuses on the significance and function of media think tanks,but lacks in-depth analysis of their operating mechanism.In order to study how local mainstream media think tanks combine their media communication power with think tank’s thought power to give full play to their advantages,and explore why they can break through and innovate in the new media environment,this paper focuses on a local mainstream media think tank——Xinhua Media Think Tank and conducts a survey to consider and explore the problems.Local mainstream media think tank is a think tank organization founded mainly by local mainstream media,aiming at providing decision-making reference and wisdom service for the government and the public.As one of the earliest and representative local mainstream media think tanks in China,Xinhua Media Think Tank is relatively well-developed.It constantly improves its operation mechanism,integrates media genes with think tank components,makes clear positioning,highlights advantages,and manages flexibly.It integrates think tank thinking into media practice,broadens communication means,builds talent team,develops capital channels,build technology platforms and respond to people’s livelihood concerns to better serve government decision-making and all sectors of society.On the basis of investigating the operation mechanism of Xinhua Media Think Tank and combining with the operation characteristics of other mainstream media think tanks obtained from literature review,the paper divides the operation mechanism of the local mainstream media think tank into seven dimensions: strategic positioning,organization management,achievement management,talent management,capital management,technology management and external communication.At present,there are some problems in the operation mechanism of local mainstream media think tanks,such as unclear positioning,imperfect management system,excessively strong media thinking,narrow audience,lack of feedback mechanism,insufficient mental resources,poor technology application,and imperfect achievement transformation and evaluation system.Based on the successful experience of Xinhua Media Think Tank,it is proposed to optimize the operation mechanism of the local mainstream media think tank from the following aspects: implement the differentiated positioning strategy and improve the top-level design;Optimize organizational structure and improve operational efficiency;Change the traditional thinking and broaden the channel of communication;Strengthen the construction of talent team and enhance the ideological level of think tank;Construct multiple financing channels and improve the transformation mechanism of achievements;Enabling technology and strengthening data support.
