| Established under the leadership of the State,Chinese vocational education directly serves economic development and plays a significant role in building a modern socialist country.Under the background of adjustment of national vocational education policies at different stages during 2001-2020,the study adopts content analysis and comparative analysis to investigate how China Youth Daily constructs vocational education,and how the news frames of vocational education reports in China Youth Daily change.The study also verifies whether the changes meet the policy orientation of national vocational education.According to research,no fundamental changes are found in news genre and source structure of vocational education reports during 2001-2020.The news genre is mainly dominated by news.The information is mainly obtained via interviews by the media or from elite sources.Vocational education news gradually shakes off marginal status,and changes in reports quantity.The number of these reports is affected by the social-economic environment,vocational education policies,and vocational education practice.From 2001 to 2020,the news frame of vocational education status is most frequently used by the media.The frame changes from objectively reflecting the dynamics of vocational education practice to highlighting the results of vocational education promotion.The use ratio of government action frame declines,and relevant reports visually demonstrate changes in vocational education policies.The proportion of viewpoint frame increases slightly.The frame changes from emphasizing government action to highlighting the cultivation of skills.The supervision frame shifts from exposing policy prejudice to supervising the implementation of policies,and highly values education practice issues.The study shows that the changing news frames of vocational education reports in China Youth Daily cater to the guidance of vocational education policies.Based on research,this study proposes that China Youth Daily should pay more attention to secondary vocational education and vocational education in Northeast China.The study also suggests China Youth Daily should raise the speaking right of parents and enterprises in reports,and continuously focus on the employment of vocational education.Moreover,It is necessary to highlight the social contributions of vocational education students and elaborately explain vocational education policies.The media also should insist on adjusting the media agenda according to vocational education policies. |
