Qingdao Badaguan,An Urban Historical And Cultural Block Communicatibility Study

With the continuous development of our society and the acceleration of urbanization,historical and cultural blocks that preserve a large number of cultural relics,local context,and can more fully reflect the history of the city have become the focus of attention.As a city with unique historical features and heritage,Qingdao has been approved by the State Council as a national historical and cultural city.The distinctive historical buildings and historical and cultural blocks in the old urban area of Qingdao are the features of this historic and cultural city,with Badaguan Historical and Cultural Block as an important component.During the urban planning and construction of Qingdao,the cultural value and dissemination value of the Badaguan Historical and Cultural Block have continuously strengthened,becoming the city’s business card and shaping people’s urban awareness of Qingdao.As a unique urban space in the city of Qingdao,Badaguan Historical Block can showcase Qingdao’s urban characteristics and cultural resources.Badaguan Historical and Cultural Block also serves as a spatial medium.In the process of spatial communication,it not only plays a role in displaying urban characteristics and promoting the city,but also embodies the weaving and practice of cultural and social space,playing an important role in generating urban spatial significance and constructing communication relationships in the city.The concept of "communicability" originated from the proposal of "communicable city" as a perspective for understanding the relationship between space and people,and is one of the research fields in urban communication.In this paper,Badaguan Historical Block is regarded as a medium of urban space.By combining the theory of communicable cities,the study finds that historical and cultural blocks as a medium have diverse communication relationships with people and cities.The research divides the space of Badaguan historical block into three spatial levels: entity,culture,and society,and explores the communication relationships of Badaguan block at various levels.Starting from the physical geographical space,this article analyzes the dissemination value of Badaguan block as a physical spatial medium,shaping a unique urban space and promoting the city,and realizing the communication appeal of urban space through block communication.At the level of cultural space,Badaguan Block,as a cultural carrier,explores the functions of Badaguan Block in witnessing the development of urban history,carrying urban memory,and inheriting urban culture;Moreover,with the participation of modern newspapers,social media,and film and television culture,the spatial media images shaped by Badaguan have influenced people’s understanding of Badaguan Block.As a social communication space in the city,Badaguan Block promotes the creation of communication relationships between people,between people and Badaguan,and between people and cities,promotes people’s communication in physical space,builds a sense of identity among local people,and updates travelers’ perceptions of the city of Qingdao.Through research,it is found that Badaguan Historical Block,as a medium,has constructed a diverse cultural landscape in the city,promoting cultural integration,achieving a space-time balance in urban history,achieving dual spatial embeddedness between physical and virtual spaces,and providing the possibility for multi-level and multi-dimensional communication between people and between people and the city.
