| In Marshall Mc Luhan’s theory, the discussion of senses mainly focuses on two dimensions: visual space and acoustic space.Compared with the visual space which only extends visual senses, acoustic space is regarded as "audile-tactile space",that is to say,in acoustic space, there are tactile sensory dimensions besides the sense of hearing.Thinking and questioning about tactile dimensions has aroused the attention of Mc Luhan’s tactile concept in this paper.Mc Luhan’s tactility is different from general understanding. It is not only the touch of skin caused by touch, but also an interactive connection meaning.Mc Luhan connects tactility with electronic media, and thinks that electric energy extends the central nervous system and provides the whole field of interactive events. On the basis of the ecological significance of the field theory, tactility,as the leading sense in the field, interacts with the whole electric power society. In addition,Mc Luhan’s concept of the field is inherently characterized by the complexity of chaos and self-organization of various elements and relationships, and tactile perception also has this feature,so the social whole sensory field dominated by tactility also presents a state of coexistence of chaos and order. This paper rediscovers Mc Luhan’s theory, finds the significance of the neglected tactility concept, and then tries to take this as the research entrance, starting from the tactility concept,to explore the sensory understanding of social complexity in the electric age.In the tactile field, the three elements, body, media and environment, are in a complicated and disorderly state with people as the center, while outside the field, human society forms a self-organization mode under the action of tactile sense. So,the whole media ecosystem presents a complex but orderly holistic state. Therefore, this paper also tries to explore the relationship between people and media and between people and society in the chaos and connectivity,so as to explore the new way of human tactile existence and truly turn tactile sense into "vitality stored in the mind". |
