The Study On The Evolution And Application Of The Library Management System In China

With the continuous development and progress of the times,the service system and working mode of library are also changing constantly.Only by improving the function level of library itself can it adapt to the challenge brought by the development of society and the change of readers’ demands.Now the library system has gone through three generations of evolution,for the construction of the third generation library management system we need to continue to explore.This study combs the evolution of three generations of library management system in China,from the first generation of library management system to the second generation of library management system,and now the third generation library management system,the whole evolution process is systematically studied.The representative library system and its characteristics are introduced.It is pointed out that the second generation of library management system has the defects of serious information island phenomenon and insufficient resource integration.The main factors driving the evolution of the second generation of library management system are: the change of library collection resources structure,the change of library users’ demand,the change of library technology environment.For the development of the third generation library management system,this paper puts forward that we should focus on the independent research and development,localization construction and data security of the third generation library management system.This paper selected the 33 provincial public libraries in our country and 42 “double first-class” university libraries as the research object,through the network investigation and telephone,E-mail consultation 33 provincial public libraries and 42 “double first-class”university libraries management system is now before the usage and transformation of usage for research,and has carried on the statistics and analysis.This paper also analyzes the reasons for the massive loss of ILAS users in provincial public libraries and Unicorn users in “double first-class” university libraries.This paper mainly studies FOLIO,an open source library system,and compares it with ALMA and Sierra of the third generation library management system,deeply analyzes the platform architecture and operation mode of FOLIO,and discusses the project progress and advantages of FOLIO in detail.Finally,this paper analyzes the challenges facing FOLIO development from multiple perspectives and puts forward corresponding countermeasures.
