| With the constant updating of communication forms,new media has become a communication platform widely accepted and recognized by the audience at present.As a special form of expression of news media,news cartoon conforms to the logic of the development of visual communication,and has undergone the transformation from paper cartoon to web cartoon,showing strong adaptability.At the same time,it is favored by readers for its unique information,artistry and satire.Amid the tide of globalization,China has always been committed to telling its own story and spreading its voice.However,due to differences in ideology and discourse system,it is difficult to communicate with overseas audiences to some extent.As an intuitive and easy to understand image symbol,news cartoon breaks the barrier of communication in visual form,and can realize "dialogue by drawing" in external communication.As a bridge to build a common meaning space with the audience,it has become an indispensable part of China’s news business practice.This paper selects 1372 samples of international news cartoons on the English website of China Daily as the research corpus,and classifies them from the distribution of subject matter,reporting subject matter,attitude tendency and related regions.It finds that the selection of international news cartoons of China Daily focuses on political and social themes.In terms of reporting genre,it tends to be critical cartoon.In the attitude tendency,mainly negative attitude;In terms of the regions involved in manga,it focuses on the United States,Britain,Japan and other countries.Finally,from the perspective of multimodal discourse theory and based on the visual grammar framework theory,this paper is committed to exploring the representation significance,interaction significance and composition significance of multimodal discourse in international news comics,and attempts to analyze the mechanism of multi-modal interaction in comics to jointly construct the overall meaning.In terms of the presentation of visual meaning,in order to achieve the purpose of indicating the theme,the multiple modes of the cartoon visual symbols assume different functions.There are image elements as the center to highlight the visual focus,other elements as a foil,and all elements are harmoniously combined to form an organic whole,showing the strong narrative,medium interaction and relatively flexible composition of international news cartoons.In addition,the author analyzes the visual rhetoric devices used in news cartoons and finds that the mainstream media uses different techniques such as metaphor,symbol,exaggeration and contrast in the meaning construction of news cartoons,which enriches the meaning expression of news cartoons.Based on the above research,this paper analyzes the shortcomings of current international news comics,such as the contradiction between visual impact and information depth,flexible expression and audience interpretation,talent shortage and market demand.At the same time,the author also takes visual analysis as the experience,and puts forward some suggestions for the future development of news comics.The author believes that news comics should increase the similarity between ontology and metaphor,and enrich the function of visual metaphor.Look for empathy points between China and the west to strengthen the resonance with others;Pay attention to the harmonious collocation of text and text,construct the visual context together;Upgrade the digital technology of comics and expand new forms and channels. |
