| In a complex social environment, postal personnel,as the main body of information dissemination and life material transportation in society, play an indispensable role in society. The information conveyed to people through media channels is a mirror of real life, and the constructed characters and things are the portraits of people in daily life, reflecting the problems of real society and the subjective thoughts of the author all the time.Because of the particularity of the postal industry, although the public can often see postal personnel, most people often lack understanding of the living conditions, working environment, family conditions, etc.of postal personnel,so the public’s impression of postal personnel often comes from the media. In other words, the image of postal personnel in the public’s eyes is the image of postal personnel constructed by the media. However, the social role of postal personnel is rich and complex, and the media cannot fully convey the image of all its social roles to the audience, which may cause the image of postal personnel accepted by the audience to be inconsistent with the reality, causing adverse social consequences. Therefore,it is particularly important to study the media image of postal staff from the perspective of social roles. From the perspective of social roles, this article discusses the development process and core concepts of social role theory and media image by using text analysis, literature research, and field survey methods in conjunction with my graduation work "The Keeper".It recognizes and summarizes the characteristics and changes of postal personnel’s media image in the past five decades, analyzes the description of social attributes and the construction of personal attributes in postal personnel’s media image This paper analyzes the contradiction between the social role of postal personnel and the media image from three aspects: fiction, exaggerated expression, and lack of expression. Finally,it points out the significance and era enlightenment of the image construction of postal personnel from the perspective of social roles. |
