Research On The Guarantee Level Of Physical Collection For Primary And Secondary School Students In Grassroots Libraries

China attaches importance to the construction of grassroots public cultural services and extracurricular reading for minors.Extracurricular reading plays an important role in primary and secondary school students,grassroots libraries can provide resources for primary and secondary school students to read.The level of physical collections of grassroots libraries in ensuring the reading needs of primary and secondary school students remains to be examined,how to improve the service level of grassroots libraries for primary and secondary school students remains to be explored.Therefor,this study used bibliography to compare books in grassroots libraries’ collections,investigate the level of library collections that meet the reading needs of primary and secondary school students,interview with library resource builders and grassroots librarians,explore strategies to improve the construction and service level of physical collections of grassroots libraries for primary and secondary school students.This study consists of three parts: first,use bibliographic verification to evaluate the level of guarantee of primary and secondary school students’ reading needs by grassroots libraries from the perspective of physical collections;second,investigate the level of guarantee of the reading needs of primary and secondary school students in the collection of books in grassroots libraries from the perspective of reading motivation and curriculum standards;third,understand the current situation of collection resource construction planning and service in grassroots libraries through interviews.Finally,suggestions are made to improve the physical collection construction and service level of grassroots libraries for primary and secondary school students.This study was conducted in Jiashan County.First of all,after the bibliographic checking,the collection rate and the total number of collections of each grassroots library are low in the county as a whole,and there are characteristics of large gaps between the total branch libraries and the gap between urban and rural areas.Secondly,the results of the questionnaire survey show that Jiashan County General Library has a high level of protection for the reading needs of primary and secondary school students.Through visiting and investigating grassroots libraries,combined with bibliographic verification and questionnaire survey results,it was found that there are the following four problems in the construction and service of grassroots libraries: incomplete construction of general branch libraries,imperfect interview strategies,low service level of grassroots librarians,and insufficient publicity and guidance.The study puts forward the following four suggestions: improve the construction of the main branch library,optimize the interview strategy,improve the service level of grassroots librarians,and strengthen publicity and guidance.
