Research On The Resilience Measurement Of MICE Enterprises Under The Impact Of COVID-19

At the beginning of 2020,the Coronavirus pandemic（hereinafter referred to as the"COVID-19"）broke out and spread rapidly around the world,causing a huge impact on the world.On March 11,the World Health Organization（WHO）officially characterized it as a"global pandemic".Major Western countries and international organizations have successively characterized it as a rare public crisis in history.Some scholars called it an unexpected event."Epic disaster"^[1].Unlike natural disasters that occur periodically such as hurricanes and floods,the disasters caused by COVID-19 are characterized by concealment and high contagion（Chan et al.,2020）^[2].Its wide spread and the mutation of the virus have had a serious impact on all walks of life.As one of the main industries where people gather,the MICE industry is under great downward pressure.After the shutdown,the entire industry has entered a stage of shock recovery.In particular,the global effect of the epidemic has led many countries to block their international borders,cities and towns for a long time,and various policies such as the substantial reduction of international flights,visa suspension,and entry quarantine have all dealt a fatal blow to the international MICE industry.In the early stage of COVID-19,in order to facilitate management,many large exhibition halls such as"Wuhan International Convention and Exhibition Center"and"Javits Convention and Exhibition Center in New York,USA"were transformed into"square cabin hospitals","field hospitals",etc.,to treat infected patients.Patients with COVID-19,which will affect the exhibiting mentality of subsequent exhibitors to a certain extent.This article divides the MICE industry into conference industry,exhibition industry and festival activities,and studies the impact of the COVID-19 on these industries respectively,and use the data of the Convention Attendance arriving in Las Vegas to quantitatively study the impact.At the same time,focus on the important part of the MICE industry-meeting and exhibition enterprises.The epidemic forced the MICE enterprises to rethink,and made a major reshuffle and cleanup of the MICE enterprises.Enterprise resilience determines the recovery and development of exhibition enterprises under the epidemic.This article specifically defines enterprise resilience as an economy or an individual recovering through adjustment,improvement,and upgrading under the impact,and has a stronger ability to resist the impact.By measuring the resilience of MICE enterprises and verifying the factors affecting the resilience of MICE enterprises through autoregressive models,Finally,the following conclusions are drawn:The COVID-19 has severely impacted both the MICE industry and MICE enterprises;the MICE industry and MICE enterprises have achieved resilience recovery;Adaptability,sensitivity and stability are positively correlated;the resilience of MICE companies has a significant relationship with the nature of MICE companies;the resilience of MICE companies has no significant relationship with the years of establishment of MICE companies.Finally,it is proposed to actively promote digital transformation in light of China’s national conditions,attach importance to the training of MICE talents,and hope that the country will introduce policies that are conducive to the development of MICE enterprises.
