Research On The Impact Of The Surge In Sugar Imports On My Country's Sugar Industr

Sugar,as a product with both edible value and industrial value,has a long industry chain,and the rigid demand for sugar increases with the development of the economy and the upgrading of the industry.In recent years,there has been an obvious shortage of sugar supply in China,which needs to be imported to meet the domestic demand,and there is a trend of sugar import from shortage filling type import to price shortage type import.This import shift has caused impact on domestic sugar planting and sugar enterprises,resulting in the decline of domestic sugar price,shrinkage of sugar planting area,loss of sugar enterprises or even bankruptcy and withdrawal,which cause the unsustainability of domestic sugar supply.In serious cases,it threatens the security of sugar industry.Based on the theories of infant industry protection,comparative advantage and industry clusters,this paper uses comparative analysis and statistical analysis to analyze the differences between domestic and foreign sugar industry in terms of sugar plantation,sugar production enterprises and industrial policies,and finds that the mechanism behind the surge of sugar imports is that the surge of sugar imports will impact the safety development of sugar industry from two major directions,namely plantation and sugar production,and the root cause of this situation is The root cause of this situation lies in the weak competitiveness of China’s sugar industry.The root cause of the lack of international competitiveness of the domestic sugar industry is the small scale of planting and low mechanization in the planting sector,which leads to high planting costs;in the sugar production sector,the small scale of enterprises,backward sugar production technology and insufficient utilization of by-products lead to low production efficiency,and thus cannot compete with strong foreign competitors,and the development of the industry is in jeopardy under the impact of the surge in sugar imports.Based on this study,the international competitiveness of the sugar industry can be improved through the joint development of the government,innovative enterprises and new farmers on the basis of ensuring the safe development and self-sufficiency of the sugar industry.
