Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy On The Integrated Development Of Metropolitan Area

With the continuous advancement of regional economic integration,it is difficult for a single city to gain advantages in the economic game between countries or regions.In line with the trend of The Times,the spatial development pattern of metropolitan areas with big cities as the core and together with the surrounding radiation areas has gradually formed.Building a modern metropolitan area is an important starting point to promote high-quality urbanization in China and enhance the balance and coordination of regional development.It is a key point to improve the integrated development level of metropolitan areas,and has become the consensus of local cooperation and development.However,at present,most of the metropolitan areas in China are in the growth period and cultivation period,and the overall development level is not high and reasonable planning and scientific layout have not been formed.This imbalance not only does not conform to the value pursuit of the benefits of social and economic development achievements,but also is not conducive to the further promotion of the core competitiveness of the metropolitan area,and has become the shackle of the healthy and sustainable development of the modern metropolitan area.At the same time,in recent years,digital and information technology has widely penetrated into various industries and fields,and the emerging industrial model involving digital technology has flourished and expanded,and gradually built a new form of China’s digital society.The permeability and synergistic characteristics of the new generation of technological revolution caused by the digital economy can effectively improve the efficiency of resource allocation and the use of factors,promote the increase rate of circulation and the upgrading of industrial structure.It is the booster for the coordinated regional development in the new era,and ushered in an excellent historic opportunity for the development of modern metropolitan areas.How to give full play to the development advantages of digital economy integration and promote the coordinated development of metropolitan area integration?Based on literature analysis,theoretical and empirical research,this paper combs the relevant theories and research status at home and abroad,and analyzes the impact mechanism of digital economy development on metropolitan integration.By establishing an index evaluation system,the development level and integration degree of 34 digital economies in China from 2011 to 2019 are measured.Using panel regression,threshold regression and intermediary effect analysis,this paper makes a multi-dimensional empirical verification on the mechanism and path of digital economy development in the whole metropolitan area,and draws the following main conclusions:First,digital economy directly promotes the integrated development of metropolitan areas,and circulation efficiency and industrial structure upgrading have multiple intermediary roles in the integrated development of metropolitan areas.Second,the digital economy for the development of metropolitan circle integration has double threshold effect,when the digital economy development level reached a certain level,circulation efficiency of the integration of metropolitan circle from negative to positive,and with the digital economy development level,industrial structure upgrade to promote the development of metropolitan circle integration effect is becoming more and more big.Thirdly,through further analysis of heterogeneity,it is found that the heterogeneity and threshold effect analysis results of the impact of digital economy on the integrated development of metropolitan areas are the same.In the areas with higher level of digital economy development,the better the effect of digital economy on promoting the integration of metropolitan areas,while in the areas with low level of digital economy development,digital economy cannot effectively promote the integration of metropolitan areas.Finally,after selecting a variety of endogenous treatment methods and conducting multiple robustness tests,the main research conclusions are still valid.
