| At present,the great changes in the world that have not occurred in a century are accelerating the evolution,and various uncertainties in the international market continue to promote changes in the global economic and trade patterns.China’s economic development has entered a new era,and the trade model of expanding export scale with the traditional advantages of cheap labor and rich resources can no longer meet the needs of high-quality development of China’s economy.Therefore,China proposes to focus on building a new development pattern,comprehensively reshaping the new advantages of international competition,and promoting the high-quality development of foreign trade,while upgrading the quality of manufacturing exports is the core task of achieving high-quality development of foreign trade.At the same time,the development trend of the digital economy has swept the world,and the manufacturing industry has become the main battlefield of the digital transformation of the layout of countries.The transformation and upgrading of digital enabling manufacturing industry is not only conducive to accelerating the modernization of the industrial system,but also can effectively promote the quality upgrading of China’s manufacturing export products,and build a "manufacturing power" and "quality power",so as to achieve high-quality development of foreign trade.Based on the analysis of the status quo of digital transformation of manufacturing industry and the quality of export products at the national and industrial levels,this paper finds that the degree of digital transformation of manufacturing industry and the quality of export products in developed countries are higher,and the degree of digital transformation and the quality of export products in medium-high R&D industries and technology-capital-intensive industries are higher;For China,there is heterogeneity in the degree of digital transformation and the quality of export products in different industries.Compared with developed countries,there is still a significant gap between the degree of digital transformation of China’s overall manufacturing industry and the quality of export products,which has a great room for improvement.The digital transformation of manufacturing industry can affect the quality of export products through cost effects and technological progress effects.The cost effects are mainly reflected in trade costs,production costs and other aspects.The technological progress effects mainly play a role through production technology,management technology and technology spillovers and other mechanisms.In this process,total factor productivity plays an important intermediary role.This paper selects the transnational panel data from 2009-2014 to construct the fixed effect model and the intermediary effect model to empirically test the mechanism that the digital transformation of manufacturing industry affects the quality of export products.It is found that the digital transformation of manufacturing industry can significantly promote the upgrading of the quality of export products,and the digital transformation of manufacturing industry in both developed and developing countries has an obvious promoting effect on the quality of export products,However,the promotion of product quality by medium and high-income economies is more significant;For the industry,the impact of digital transformation of medium-high R&D and technology-capital-intensive industries on product quality is more obvious;Total factor productivity is an intermediary channel for the digital transformation of manufacturing industry to improve the quality of export products.In order to give more effective play to the promotion role of digital transformation of manufacturing industry in upgrading the quality of export products,governments at all levels should attach importance to and strengthen the framework of digital infrastructure,deepen the reform of elements markets deepen the reform of factor markets,and encourage enterprises to actively carry out digital transformation;For enterprises,it is necessary to increase investment in digital research and development,promote visual management and improve production efficiency;In addition,we should actively build a "Government+Universities+Enterprises" consortium,attach importance to the cultivation of digital talents,and achieve the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry and quality improvement. |
